I looked at all 578 pages and you's guys got some really, really nice stuff!
I would say you need to get out more, but really, one could do worse than spending the past weeks drooling over what some folks thump on...

Been a while since i’ve posted about new stuff. Probably all new stuff. It’s a disease. We got my Grendel with Aguilar AG60s with a series/parallel, then we got a newer Aerodyne with 1/4 Pounders and an Omega bridge. Both have the decal block treatment. Not perfectly straight, but no one cares if they even notice.
Been thinking about doing a big mod on the aerodyne. gettin some thin black pickguard material to cover the P route and just put in a normal Neck J pickup. Was never huge on the PJ thing (the bass pretty much fell in my lap), but I can be talked out of it.

I currently have 5 Basses with the P/J setup but the bridge pickups are disconnected. I've never liked bridge pickups in any of my Basses over the years. I've never really liked traditional humbuckers in Basses either as they sound muddy. IMO, Leo got the split P pickup right when he put it in the Precision Bass. It's a noiseless sigle coil that is on so many famous recordings. I love that full tight tone.
I had never owned a Jazz Bass until a year and a half ago, I got a Geddy Lee. I ordered a EMG JVX Set that sound like Passive's on steroids. They are very dynamic like a passive pickups but have the extended lows and highs. I left the bridge wired up but don't use it much at all. Yep, my Jazz bass pretty much sounds like a P Bass, LOL.
Seems everyone likes what they like as far as tone and it seems and I think it has a lot to do with what you are use to. Thank God there's so many choices to choose from on the market today.
If you like the sound of a Jazz Bass using both pickups and that makes your boat float better, than by all means, stick that jazz pickup in the sweet spot.

@EdBo, I wonder if you'd disconnect this bridge pickup:
It really does look cool but, it would more than likely get disconnected as I'd probably find the tone too thin when used by itself and it more than likely muddy up the tone when combined with the one located near the sweet spot.
Beautiful Bass but,I gotta ask, is it neck heavy ?
Not to offend anyone, but I agree with EdBo - PRECISIONS ONLY. I have tried several jazz basses and sold them less than a month later.
But EdBo here is a pic for ya - I did not do a great job but for a laugh.

So this arrived yesterday. My first bass (technically its my 2nd as I bought one in 1977 but never learnt to play it). Its a 1988 MIJ 62 re-issue Jazz Bass. It's been fitted with a Badass Bridge and Baseline 6 pups. The originals came in the case with it. I won't happy with the neck relief so I adjusted it. Tightening the strings, I've snapped the E string. So got to wait for new strings before I can really get into it.

The aerodyne is such a nice bass!
There is thousands of jazz alike bass you can get for peanuts! And some excellent ones!!!
Why butcher yours!
And why renounce to the precision tone?
Soon you'll be on the search for a P-bass!
Don't we almost all enjoy both j and p?
And last: Fender Japan made for the japanese market, aerodynes with jazz two single coils configuration. Look for one of those and you'll have the matching pair!!!
