This is my stable, as of today. I suspect it'll be so for a long time because it's composed of just keepers I'd long craved for + DIYs. I'd forever craved for a Stingray5 before buying my first one in 2001 (circa 1997, the figured maple neck one). The second one came in 2011 as a backup (blue, 2003 model, yes, I'm into ceramics). Now, many came and went, until recently, when I sold an Epiphone Viola (plus have a Schecter CV-5 I'm selling too) to afford the lovely WPS Star Bass 5 I've been wanting for the last decade. The other 2 basses are my builds, pretty ghetto but nice playing and sounding. The red one was a 4 string P kit (now a reverse P + J fretless 5er -overall cost including upgrades not exceeding 150€-). The black Jazz is the hardware/pickups/electronics from an unusable DIY Jazz I got for 38€, plus the cheapest body & neck I could get from AliExpress (51€ more, total 89€).

I know exactly what I'd do with it. I replace the center pickup with an Active SD Lightnin' Rod or an Active EMG JV or JVX. A Passive Hum Cancelling dual coil J might also do the trick. I just love the tone and tightness from a single pickup placed near the sweet spot. Less is more IMO.
It surely is a sharp and unique looking Bass.

I'd re-characterize it if it was mine with an EMG JCS pickup in the middle position and a string thru body Babicz Bridge for starters. I gotsta mod everything that comes through my door.
I'm swapping hardware and modding on a pair of Parts Basses now. Always tweaking on something.

Look what arrived today for my next mad experiment .

4 string GFS Paulownia 3lb hot pink Jazz.
Will end up a 5 string. (3rd 4-5 string conversion this month)
Grafting a 5 String G&L l2500 Tribute neck (maple) with matching headstock and removed logo.
Hipshot ultralite "Y" nickle tuners
Black glass glitter pick guard.
Engraved black control plate and knobs.
MEC Dynamic Response silver logo passive Jazz pickups
Bent plate basic 5 string bridge. (17.5mm spacing)
Like the blue PJ conversion , the neck pocket will need to be widened, set deeper into the body (21+ fret neck and longer heel) square ended pocket
The bridge will need to be located @ 1/2 " closer to the body end to accommodate the nut moving closer to the body joint, assisting in combating neck dive along with the Hipshots.
The whole Bass will likely come in @ 7LBS assembled.
Most of the remaining parts expected Tuesday.

Reminds me of an early '70's Maple neck I FOOLISHLY traded off back in college.
Couldn't get used to the pink Day- Glo finish. May(?) have even been original
but I assumed it was a refinish and I was to busy to bother doing it again.
Sad how narrow minded youth can be.

This is my current duo. One is a Talman TMB105 that I've had for all of eight days. The other is a Carvin BK40 that I built from a kit back in 2011. I'll never part ways with the Carvin, but have contemplated swapping out the stock pickups. Part of me really wants to add a fretless, but my budget says otherwise.
