I ordered a new bass online, but Steinberger being owned by Gibson, obviously it arrived with no headstock... also the amp is very small, must be an Asian size. Last time I ever order anything from the internet...
Joke aside, this is a good bass, very nice to play on. Possibly the most comfortable neck I have ever tried, the body on the other hand is not that comfortable, makes me wanna stick bits of bass body on it, Les Paul's "The Log" style. But the intended purpose was to have something light and small, and that's exactly what it is. Sounds nice as well, but it really deserves new strings, which are on the way, and I'm thinking new electronics with switches to split the humbuckers.
I only found one thing really wrong with it : damn it's ugly !

Most definitely 90's styled thought.
For a better sound, you could have tried a second hand Honher B2A. (Like the one I play in my avatar!) Exact same look, but with EMG active P.Ups.

If I'd still have it today, I'll play it through the sadowsky preamp, and that would be awesome!

It is good for the price as travel bass. Mine was not too "punchy" and the neck is not slim but very playable. But for me the problem was to play this after another bodied. Two position of referings stand sittings and the arm was too extended, not confortably for me....Mine was not too light....and withouth tricks with a strip playing on stage not confortably....I've sold. But I remember with nostalgia great bass for a lot of things.
The thing is I don't want to buy a second hand instrument without trying it first. And I don't think I would ever have found someone selling a bass like that where I live. Plus I don't want an active bass.
It was a joke on people ordering clothes from China or Japan that end up being much smaller than they expected.
The playing position is unusual indeed, but I'm getting used to it.
Back in (I think) the late 90's I bought the SP2 model second hand. This was the carbon fiber neck on a wood "mini V" body. It did have have the fancy anchor play like the L2 to give you a more natural playing position, just the flip-out knee rest, but man did I love that bass! I wish could have held on to it.
My often changing current collection, less one out getting a new nut.

Mine has no neck dive at all. The top wood is flame walnut which is an extra cost but you never recover that on a sale as it just makes the bass more appealing to the new buyer.

Bianchi celeste' - I would like it better if the whole bass was celeste'
It's a '77/'78. A true "garage sale" find for $250. The big humbucker is incredibly deep and powerful. Although I never weighed it, the solid slab body is really heavy (by modern standards). I gigged it for about a year before I got nervous it would get stolen or broken, and tired of sore shoulders, LOL.

Seriously, Fender was seeing many players put a EB-0 "mudbucker" pu under the heal of their P-basses so redefined the Tele bass in '70 with their version of one.

Thanks for the offer! I'll have to get back to you, LOL. It's stock as far as I can tell. Tuners, pup, pots and bridge look original. I had to replace the output jack and I added the bridge cover. It had screw holes so it originally came with one. The thumb rest above the pickup, rather than below, might be a replacement or add on. It is plastic and attached with funky wood screws. I've seen pictures of this model (big humbucker) with the thumb rest above, below, and also without. The neck is straight and solid as a tree trunk. Other than the weight, the guitar plays and sounds great.
