Now that’s the best bass for metal!
I picked both of these this summer. The Ovation I've had 17 years. The Michael Kelly four string bas has been converted to a six string baritone. Sometimes I use two bass strings. And I know the rest aren't basses but they're fun.

My Classic Vibe Jaguar Medium Scale. I got a custom pickguard and black/pearloid knobs for it.
Temp electronic set up in there right now. Original is being looked at. I was having issues with it.
On the right, my Birdsong Cortobass, purchased 13 years ago. On the left, my new Birdsong 5 string, completed and received a couple weeks ago.
After a long time of no new bass gear purchases, I couldn't pass on an amazing deal on a new 2021 Fender Player Series P-Bass in Capri orange. Swapped out the rounds to Ernie Ball Slinky Flatwounds, and popped in a set of DiMarzio Will Power. Can't believe how well these play! Next on my to-do list is to get either a matte black or carbon fibre pickguard to complete the aggressive look!
Here is my new Fender American Pro II jazz bass in Mystic surf green. I’ve waited for months for this bass And a month ago was struck down with Covid and a three week hospitalization. I still do not have complete feeling in my hands so I have not been able to play it yet. I have something to look forward to.
That's the spirit and she is a beauty! Really sad to here about the Covid battle. I hope you feel better soon and get the opportunity to enjoy your new toy!

Got them both during lockdown last year - Ovation 6/20, Gibson 9/20. Both in awesome aesthetic condition but both needed attention that exceeded my capability. Nothing drastic but they required the skills of my tech to be optimized.
I got them fairly playable, but with no gigs upcoming they languished.
After months, three weeks ago with a resurgence of confidence in mass transit I was able to finally get them over to my tech and into his work queue.
Got them back today and man oh man, I am thrilled to know that buying them was a great move!!! Got them home and played each for 2 hours!! (Had to stop for dinner) Back at it tomorrow! I cannot wait to gig them, one this Saturday and one next.
They were well worth the wait!!!
