Two-way, raise or lower. Old school Kahler from the 1980's. It really works great and holds pitch with no problem. There is even a pin point you can use to fix it in position, if you want to disable the whammy. Because of the mass of this bridge and the way it routs into the body, it sustains like you would not believe.
But I have a question, I want to fix the whammy bar so it stays in place close by the strings when I need it, but let's me move it to the side when I'm not using it. The bar doesn't bottom out, so when you tighten it fully it stops when the threads end.
I could use Teflon tape, but I'm wondering if there is a thick, viscous grease I could dip the threads in that would accomplish the same thing. The bar has to come off when you pack it up, so I want something that lasts that let's me remove the bar and put it back on. Any ideas?
