Yes, I was thinking more of it being designed into a bass from the start.
Yeah, sadly they were hit and miss QC-wise (some had preamp issues) and didn't sell well enough to keep them in the lineup. Mine (made in 2005) is really nice, though, and I'll never sell it:

Thin flexible circuit incorporated into one layer and a flat watch battery powering it. Doable? I’ll take 3 in mint and 1 in tort please

I ordered one of these small, cheap tuners. [$18.91] and when I get it I'll take it apart and figure out how to load it into a body. I like how the screen is black when not in use which can be visually integrated into a black pg.

They are pretty basses - the back is trans-brown. (front is a quilted maple veneer) They sound like a (9v) Kubicki Factor. 24 frets, 6-screw neck connection, and string-thru. A very nice J.

EDIT: Also note that the Jazz 24 has a downsized body to reduce weight.

I like that version. Was it done differently different years? What year is yours?Mine was made in 2005. There were three different colors offered: initially just the cherry burst and tobacco burst (which had both the trans brown and black backs), both with 4- and 5-string versions. Later the matte black was added. I believe in 2007 they discontinued the cherry burst finish, and in 2008 stopped production of this model.
EDIT: I bought mine used here on TB 15 years ago.
