What's the difference between the Ric's other than color?

One cool thing about rick's is the way they are serialized down to the month. The 4001's as pictured: Feb 1973, March 1973, April 1973, May 1973, July 1973. Not pictured are a Jan 1973 and a June 1973 out for restoration. This was a transition period for the 4001 and if you notice the inlays got smaller and by August the checkered binding was phased out along with the toaster pickup.

Since John was so nice to put up the thread title I suggested, I finally got around to make a group shot of my basses.

Here's my humble collection:

This current collection is 4 basses short of what I want, and 5 basses over of what I need.
