I might have a line on a Warwick Corvette Fretless for $499.99 ... is that a good price for this model? Opinions?

I have an ash vette fretless 4, and I thought 600 GBP was a good deal for it - especially against the price of fenders over here. ebony board, beautiful hardware and so, so easy to set up. It plays itself.

that's a sound deal! I think my next bass will be a fretless standard. I've had a noodle on a few fretlesses and the intonation hasn't seemed to much of a difficulty. Any known niggles or things to look out for on these fretless corvettes that anyone knows of?

Depending how old it is, I guess it might have the Just-a-Nut 2 - they have a reputation for not being as solid as the 3s (although my streamer has one and it seems fine), so check it's in good condition and not cracked etc. If it's natural oil finish (i.e bare wood) check all over the body and the neck for dry spots where the wood hasn't been looked after and has 'opened up' or cracked. Of course with a fretless you can look out for wear on the fingerboard from using roundwounds or harsh playing - might help you get the price down but with it being ebony I doubt anything will have happened that affects playability. Apart from that I can't really think of anything specific. If it's in decent condition, it's a good deal.

Also - as with most warwicks, look around the spot where the index finger of your slapping hand rests. If someone's being slapping enthusiastically their nails can gouge the wood slightly here. Again it's just cosmetic.

I have a thumb B.O as well and I am not shelling out 12 euros for that Invalid Link Removed. I use Invalid Link Removed. It is paraffin and bees wax blend so it is harmless and can shine up to a gloss if you know what you are doing. Being a soldier before the era of tan boots, I am familiar with spit shining!

FL Knifemaker I am soooo jealous. I was close to getting one of a TBer with faulty wiring.

Lemon oil is cheapo too.

Just got a NT Thumb fretless from a fellow TB'er that was defretted with the wedge fretboard. I like the sound of the wedge over the ebony.

Have a BO 5 thumb fretless, and a NT 4 st fretted thumb.
Think I'll try and get a Dolphin pro 1 4 string next.

The Corvettes are a heck of a deal for a fretless bass, hard to beat.

My Corvette Std. '07 arrived today <3 Great thing, just needs some serious setup. Also ordered an EMG-BTC preamp for it to see what it can do. Just love the Warwick-sound. All the clings and clangs and rattles and the growl.

I've been offered this Warwick Streamer Stage 1 in a trade for some guitar gear:

Does anyone know what year roughly it's from? It's got a JANII by the looks of it.

Am I right in saying it's all maple neck thru with wenge fretboard?
