Thanks. I didn't have any fresh 9v batts. on hand, so I will do this today and report back.

I must say that the LTD is the most versatile Wick that I've owned (and the lightest and most comfortable). Having said that, I also think it's the most non-Warwick Warwick that I've played (if that makes any sense...). It sounds like a P! It sounds like a J! It growls! It doesn't induce hernias!:D

Haha, I had a similar thing with the Corvette I'm the proud owner of. It has a maple neck and fretboard instead of the usual ovangkol, and is incredibly smooth sounding with a warmly pronounced low mid. Not that I mind, it's a unique tone and I'm happy with it :) That dirty blonde maple top sets off the Thumb a treat...lucky man :D

The thing is that I've already uploaded one photo on another thread. But this one just won't do it. It's too big, so I've trimmed as much as I can but it's still too big. So I guess I'll have a look at Photobucket, mut my guess is that it's another problem entirely. But I'll keep trying.

I know whatcha mean by weight.I had a Thumb NT5 & while it had awesome tone,the 10+pounds was hard on my back & left shoulder,even with a wide padded strap.The 5th string just didnt do it for me so I swapped for a Streamer stage 2 in 4 string & found an even awesomer tone with less weight.
Alot of people say yours is the most un-Warwick Warwick tone wise,but still is 100% Warwick.I love that model too.It out P's the Prescisions,out J's the Jazz's & growls like a mad dog.
Come over to the Warwick forum & show off your baby to other like minded bass freaks that share the love of the sound of wood.
I dont wanna rub TB the wrong way so I wont post the address.It's a .de addy & can be found via google.

Don't fool yourself, the Corvette is a totally pro instrument. It may not be the flashiest looking bass, but the sound is to die for. I prefer my 'Vettes to the Thumbs I've tried. :D
I have the same setup, except my Bassman is a 150.

I've got the option of two Warwick Thumbs, both are second hand, 4 string & bolt-on & look in VERY good condition, one is a 2008 (£700) & the other is a 2004 (£1,099, although price can be negotiated) wich would be the best instrument to buy? I'm looking for a generally versatile instrument, but can't shake the memory of the Thumb 5 I played over a year ago. Any advice as to wich is the better instrument would be welcome (if the 2004 is higher quality, I'm willing to pay more tbh)

I can't see why it'd be worth an extra £400, even if it had the wenge neck, you can get a new Thumb for slightly more than that.


Theres a lot of fuss about the wenge neck, personally I've not had much playtime on one, but from what I have, I prefer the Ovangkol neck.

I was thinking it might not be worth the extra £400, & as to the negotiation on price, it's being solf through GAK, so I'm not 100% sure on how flexible they're going to be, I'll give them a call tomorrow

I'd go with the cheaper/newer bass.
