if you want to use anything other than the warwick beeswax, i'd say use at your own risk. now that's not to say that the howards won't do well, but i'd test it on the back or something first to make sure it does ok. it's the same warning they put on most furniture polish...test in an inconspicuous area first to make sure it doesn't ruin your finish, lol.

haha! gotchya, thanks man!

Only reason I mentioned it is because Warwick wax is back-ordered online and costs almost 30 bucks after shipping. Howard is quality stuff and costs about 1/5 of it.

I'll give it a whirl, see what happens! :cool:

Thork86, that's a great looking bass! You shouldn't run into any problems with the Howards Feed n Wax... I've been using that on my 'wicks for that last few years with great results.

That's good news, thanks! Just apply it like I do on the old coffee table, right? Circular motion with a clean towel to wax on, let it sit for 10-20min, then circular buff it off with a clean towel?

Personally, I don't know whether the Warwick or the Howards would be best, not enough experience on my part!

As for applying, apply the wax with a polishing cloth using circular movements. Wait 2 to 3 minutes and then remove the excess with a dry polishing cloth.

Just applied a coat of that Howard Feed'n'Wax to the body, neck, and fingerboard. The bass must have been really thirsty, it took about three applications all around and there was barely anything to wipe away... took it all in! Bass doesn't look too much different, fingerboard a little darker, but I am assuming she appreciated the moisture. Thanks for the help guys! Wicks for the win! :)

Here's a question... mine is coloured oil so the body doesn't need waxing, but what about the neck? Should that be waxed, or should I just apply some lemon oil when I next do the fretboard? (Neck is ovangkol)

Hmm, not sure. Apparently Howard is safe for any oil finish as well as fretboard, if they are natural/oil finish.

I THINK mine is all natural with no stains though... what, bubinga body, maple neck, and wenge fingerboard. Only thing that's finished is face of headstock.... Again that's me. not sure for you but Howard is safe for all oil finish I've read.

You can wax the back of the neck,& lemon oil the fingerboard at string changes,if you wish. This isnt critical as the back of the neck usually gets enough oil from your hand while playing.
Lemon oil can also be used as a general cleaner, if the wood gets dirty. A wipe with lemon oil,then a sanding with a Scotchbrite pad, then a waxing.

I figured it might get plenty of oil from my sticky mitts. But I'll definitely put lemon oil on next time I can afford to buy some new strings :p

Having always used lemon oil in the past (Kyser lemon, pure extract, old english lemon, tried it all!) I can't believe I never tried this Howard product before, thanks for the tip, TalkBass!

Exactly like humpy said! Push-pull volume pot selects active eq or bypass (pull up for bypass)

Also, since I didn't get a manual with mine, I just found out the second knob from the left is a sort of pickup blend control. I thought it was like a MusicMan where its (left to right) volume, treble, mid, bass. not so! it all makes sense now on the Warwick, it's truly an incredible bass and I'm not nearly good enough to play it in public yet! (got a backup for that! hah!)
