The Official Warwick Club (Part 5)

I posted this in a new thread before realizing the Warwick club might actually be the appropriate place to do it.

I recently went to a shop near my buddy's house and played a Warwick. This was one stop of many and I forgot write down the information on the bass. I am interested in buying it so I called back and they assured me it was a Warwick pro series corvette. The bass I played had double bucks. I can't find evidence of a 4 string, pro series corvette with double bucks anywhere; I only see the pro series corvette with the standard MEC j style pickups.

Anyone know of a pro series corvette with double bucks?

I want to make sure they aren't trying to pass off a rockbass (the only corvette $$ with three knobs I can find evidence of) for the pro series.

Not regular production, but it honestly could have been from the custom shop.
There were Corvette $$ befroe teh RockBass series, but they weren't called "pro".
It would help if you could get the serial number.

I got this in 2008, it was made in Germany in 2007 in Germany.

Good thing you checked up on it. Damn that's NUTS!

I had a mint as new German made Corvette double $$ 4 string in the Satin black finish. I bought it used but mint and as new for $850 on ebay with deluxe wick bag and all the goodies.
Never really caught on with it ...
Liked my 2006 LE Dirty Blonde thumb better, so put it back on the bay for $800 and a quick sale....Sold it in less than a day ( Buy Now).

You can find great deals on The real deal German $$'s if you keep an eye out and have a bit of patience .....

Bunch of scabs. They could probably almost get away with it too because the new Rockbasses have a tiny little logo on the truss rod cover on the headstock and you really have to investigate (save seeing the 3 knobs first) before you realise that it's a Rockbass.

Part of the dilemma is that I have very particular criteria for "the right bass." I play unconventionally and as strange as it is...I actually liked how the rockbass sounded for my style. I would have to play the German before jumping on one. It may be a better quality, but it also may be less fitting for my sound.

So I guess I'm wondering: are there specific issues with the rockbass in the build quality? Is it intrinsically a bad investment?

Not sure about the "new rock bass" line?
I know the original rock bass line was not near the quality of the german made wicks.
I guess they stepped it up a bit so I heard? But have never played one of the newer RB's.
As far as a bad investment..I guess it is all relative...Everything is a bad investment these days.
In order to sell used gear people have to ask really crazy low prices or sit on them.
Buy what your ears tell ya to...as long as you plan on hanging onto it for several years it should be OK, getting a decent portion of the money back if need be.

I have owned a few real German Wicks and have played a few of the new Rockbasses. The new Rockbasses are great. I remember sitting down with one about a year ago and it took me a while to realize I was playing a Rockbass. Don't be afraid of it because of the name they are good basses and if it sounds and feels good well then go for it.

Someone is selling a 1995 German Fortress One, how can I tell if it's really a German made?

It does say Fortress on the Truss Rod cover and Serial Number starts with G-02--------95.

Decent bass? It's a fretless and I want to try a fretless and it's not alot of money.

Is the SN ends in 95, it was built in 1995 - likely in the old factory. I've never really liked the style of the Fortress basses, but they balance perfectly. Some of the bolt-on basses from that era have either a wenge neck or a maple/bubinga neck. Both are great - just different. I would imagine that a wenge neck/ebony board would be better suited for a fretless.

I recall that Bass Player had a favorable review of the Rockbass Fortress 4 and 5 a while back. They certainly looked the business. I'm just glad that they took off that wretched "Rockbass" scribble off the headstock. Nothing screams "IMPORT" like screen printing.

I have SCORED one of my "Must have basses before I die" Basses! (2 actually if you count my Alembic Triple-Omega!) But I am in the process of taking possession on a '92 Dolphin Pro I. (Yep, the one currently here in the TB Classifieds)

I've had my share of Warwicks, but only the NT's seem to REALLY give me the Oooomph I want when I play. (Although I still have a '96 Streamer Std that never fails or disapoints) My Next acquisition is Hopefully an NT Katana or a Streamer Stage I. I have an SS2, which is AMAZING! I'll post Pics as soon as that Dolphins "Surfaces!" :hiding:

Hi,
I'm fairly new to T.B. and saw that you had a Warwick club going. I have two Warwicks, a 2003 Streamer (used), and 2009 Corvette (new), both are rock bassess. I know they are not the spendy German made basses, but they are all I can afford at the moment. I just played a bass for the first time 4 months ago, and I was hooked. :hyper:
While looking for a bass, I ran across the Warwick Corvette, it is an 09, but was new in the package. I asked a buddy about Warwicks, and he told me they are about the best you can get, so I bought it. I really like it, then I ran across the Streamer with passive p.u. for a great price, so I bought that one too. Is this addicting?
