Thanks WarwickOfficial on your suggestions to achieve 18mm at bridge. I am aware of how to set up and change every aspect of the 2 piece bridge system I have working on them for years. The width of the fingerboard is more important than the bridge spacing alone. You could push the saddle pieces out on the bridge. They don’t seat well inside the channel when far over to either side there is some interference with the tiny Allen screws going through the bridge system but besides that you would have the strings on the edge of the fingerboard and almost falling off the edge of the board.

What I would like to see is a true 18 or 18.3 mm spacing bass from Warwick. This would include the width of the fingerboard not just the bridge system. Thanks.

I own an old (2004) passive Corvette Standard 5 string, which I don't play much atm, though it sounds awesome through my Mesa Boogie. But I just can't let my hands off anymore of that bass in my signature. Maybe I'm too stupid to put a pic in here (newby in the forum) so here is just a link for interested people ;)

best thing is i got my bass brand new but for half the price. i swear i could buy a warwick special edition like every month. i just love those instruments BIG time :hyper: cool thing is in a big music store near me, they really half the price when the model is about a year old. KA-CHING!

jesus they had a 2010 4 string special edition of a corvette in bubinga with bartolini pickups and pre and that bass was a beauty and played gorgeous. just perfect. but couldnt afford it at that time ... :bawl:

Wow thats awesome! I would love to add a few to my collection someday. Warwick doesnt get the respect it deserves on here IMO, mine is my number1 go to bass, I just wish they offered more finishes stock like Spector. A blue matte finished Flame Maple top Thumb with BEM board would kill!

Yes absolutely. Though I think many just never had a Wick in their hands, so they just can't know which great of a bass it is. They miss a lot imo. Mine is my go-to bass too. Just suits me like a glove. I played Fender and Ibanez, tested Fame, Mayones and all that stuff but Warwick is what I chose again. Two days ago I was working a bit with the bridge to get my strings a little closer to the fretboard. That new just-a-nut bridge works perfect. You can immediately see how the the strings move slightly up or down by only little movements and turns with the allen key. Very subtle adjustments possible.

Yes color is rare. I liked that Corvette $$ red versions a lot too:

Hey guys - I'm somewhat new to Warwick - but I can't help but love Stefan Lessard tone (Dave Matthew Band). I don't care for the looks of the Dolphin, so I was hoping there was another model that would give me a similar tone?

FNA Jazzman?

I love the DEEP and TIGHT / PUNCHY tone he gets... sits so well in the mix.

What model do you guys recommend?

Streamers are very cool as brotherbassi already said.
Though you could also go for a Corvette, dependig on what you want to pay you'll get a hell of a bass 4 or 5 string. My Vette has great but not too woofy lows, punchy and well toned mids and not too brilliant highs. Like THE allround monster. I think you could get the tone and presence with an active Corvette very well like Lessards tone.

Never played a FNA Jazzman nor a Dolphin so i can't say something on those.

I too own a Thumb BO as posted, but I doubt you look for that kind of tone. My Thumb is way more mid an high present than my Corvette an not so deep but more punch in the lows.

Try some. But a Streamer or Corvette I would look first, with that what you search for.

^ Thanks - I just jumped on a deal for a Corvette FNA Jazzman... I'll give it a spin and see what happens :)

It seems the "Warwick tone" is more about the neck & fingerbaord moreso than body wood, huh? I know ash & bub sound pretty different - but it seems the Wic-Tone is domonated by the large massive neck & Wenge fingerboard ?

Its about the wood, the pickups and most importantly IMO the strings. The $$ I play with DR Sunbeams lets me do just about anything, I can even get a wicked Jaco tone!(On a Fretted!)

I have a Nirvana black RB Corvette and I'm thinking that it might look better with all black hardware. Not sure. Anyone seen one, or have a different model with black stain and black hardware? I'd love to see it.

Further - if anyone would be interested in trading their *black* 4 string bridge and tuners for mine in *chrome* - feel free to drop me a PM.
