I did all the prep work and painted it black with a rattle can. It looked good but the paint was soft and scratched/marked easily so I wet sanded it down to 1000 grit, took it to an auto body shop and had them spray a catalyzed low gloss satin clear coat to protect it and give it the hot rod satin sheen look. Ordered all new black hardware from Warwick Germany. I also ordered a product called Rat Wax which is a cleaner/protectant for flat finishes that won't cause shiny spots.

Warwick Club people, I need some help. I understand that MEC have changed their logo since apparently sometime in 2020. I really liked the traditional MEC logo (gold colour and located at one end of the pickup cover). I am in the process of planning a Masterbuilt Thumb NT and when it comes to the MEC pickups, apparently the new logo runs down the middle of the pickup - see the MEC website and you should be able to see this. I was informed by my dealer, that the Masterbuilt Thumbs for roughly the last 6 months have been using the new logo MEC pick up covers. My question is, if this is truly the case, are there any pictures out there of what a more recently built Thumb bass with this type of pick up cover look like? Do any of you have a more recent build you can share with me? Thanks,

Nice choice. I would be surprised if the 88 isn't really cherry. I have never seen one from that era that was maple.
So the '88 I was after didn't happen. Long story. The one on the right is an '84, and yeah, cherry. Just got it 2 days ago…took 37 days from northern Germany.
I think the '88 I was talking about might have been anigre, but not really 'flamey' looking. I also studied the pics more at the time and it could have been cherry…just the pics made the wood like bright like maple, not tan like cherry.
I tried to buy that '88 first. Cut a deal with the guy on eBay Kleinanzeigen, sent him the money, and then he says, "ok, I have to make sure my dad is ok with this, I'm selling it for him".
Dad didn't ok it. I got my money back. Next day I bought the 30th. Day or two after that a gentleman on the FB Warwick community told me he had an '84 he'd ship no problem. Serial #164. I tried to say no. I couldn't. Out of all the ones I had seen for sale, current and old listings, only one had a lower serial. I was like 'it would be a while before I'd see another '84 with a serial like this'
so here I am.
