The Official Warwick Club (Part 6)

Big thanks for the advice about the Warwick $$'s recently RedNuk, burgerdj and Barticus - a German Made 2009 $$ appeared on Facebook Marketplace on the weekend for a great price, I went and snapped it up. Still getting used to the switches/settings. It is really loud, especially with both switches down on parallel, but I have found cutting the volume on the bass a little really stops the boomy loudness and brings out this amazing tone. Also found today that I really like tone with the neck pickup on Parallel, the Bridge on single coil and the balance leaning a little towards the neck.

Looks like a good score.

Good snag! Looking really nice (I'm a sucker for natural wood finishes). How' ya liking the neck? With switches + balance it can do so many different things... truly a do-it-all bass :) Have fun !

Loving the neck, it really is an amazingly well built instrument. I'm glad I went for the German made rather than rushing into a Chinese made Warwick. (Though the Chinese Rockbass are now coming out really nice quality wise) ... i'm going to put a Brass Just-A-Nut III on it, then leave it be and get used to it all. :). It is taking a little to move over and find the settings I like. Coming from a Mexican Active Fender PJ, it really is a different game all together getting the tones down that I like to use and adjusting my other settings. But it an extremely enjoyable journey doing all of that. :)

Yep, 2 decisions you won't regret… buying this bass and adding the Brass Just a Nut III.

I've considered trying to hunt down another $$ 5 in Nirvana black to do a refinish on. They're cool basses.

Nice, I wish it had 1 more string 🤓
I have one of those as well, hope to be listing it soon. Same color and everything!

It came with the lamentable JAN II, I ordered a new JAN III for it but.. it wasn't the broadneck version. So now I have a new brass JAN III at the correct width that needs to be installed and then it will be ready. What a great bass though, I really like it.

So the 5 is a broad neck?

Hey all, had my eye on a used German Teambuilt Corvette $$ since the beginning of February. The tag on it described the color as "Black Onyx". Couldn't find this model ANYWHERE else, so I finally pulled the trigger on it this past Friday, as I didnt want it walking off with someone else. Was even able to talk GC out of $600 off the asking price. First Warwick for me. Not regretting going German, for sure! Turns out the previous owner had it refinished, and I really can't find a single flaw on this beauty. So...can I join y'all's club? :)

SCORE!
I was actually watching that exact listing online (no intention of buying, I just thought it was really cool).

Okay what I originally came here to post was whether anyone wanted to share what strings they like to put on their Warwick Fortresses? I've got an old German one, PJ dynamic correction pups, all passive. I like steel, but I want to save what's left of the frets. Currently wearing D'Addario EXL 165 (light top medium bottom) don't hate it, don't love it. Might swap for Bass Boomers, since I love those on my J bass. I've also liked GHS Pressurewounds, but they didn't seem to like the bass in question. IDK
My Corvette $$ wears DR Hi-Beams.

No kidding?! Did you have questions about the finish, or was it evident this was refinished to you? I just chalked it up to it being a discontinued color scheme, didn't find out until after purchasing. At first I was a bit put off that it wasn't "factory", until I did a serial number search on Warwick's site. To me, at least- this version looks MUCH better than the original, seems extremely professionally done, and now I have a "one of one".

I wasn't seriously considering a purchase at this time, in general. Plus, I have the Rockbass equivalent (black matte looking finish), but it's passive with push-pull for series/parallel. It was the first instrument I bought with my own earnings, and I've become pretty fond of it. One of these years I might finally put a preamp in it.

That looks great, congrats!

Now it just needs a brass just a nut three and some black hardware 🤓
