Well, unless they changed it, the FNA Jazzman's don't have a passive switch, but a slap contour switch. If you have the Seymour Duncan pre that comes with it, it is the slap contour IME. :)
How right you are! I feel like an idiot. I went to the Warwick site and found the downloadable manual and read up on that one. That's excactly what it is. Gonna start working with THAT sound! Thanks for pointing that out for me.:)

Anyone know how to get rid of fretbuzz on one of these? Just bought it yesterday and its buzzing bad when fretting on the first the frets. I'm thinking the nut needs to be adjusted but I've never done it. Anyone?

By the way, best $ I've ever spent.

It has the Just-A-Nut III on it. He just replaced the nut the other day.

Nice Vette!
Yes the nut has been replaced then it is possible that it wasn't configured right. Preety easy to adjust you just need to stick the allen key in the little screw and turn (clockwise), might loosen the strings a bit if you wish.

Enjoy!

whats a good alternative to the warwick besswax. i was thinking of using Dunlop Bodygloss 65 Cream of Carnauba Wax instead anyone got experience using it? especially for the neck?

i've use their 65 lemon oil on my other bassise to clean up the frets so far works good. going to use the same one on the wick.

Ok, my GAS is getting uncontrollable. I think I am gonna go with the Stage I because I love the fat sound Zender gets on the albums before traveling without moving... although I love that sound too!

So I'm gonna go check out the trans black SSI tomorrow and hopefully the 20mm spacing and cumbersome neck shouldn't prove to be much. Then I just gotta sell the Sadowsky, and hopefully it will all work out haha. If I fall in love with it, like I hope I will, I will eventually get some red SIMS LEDs on it for those special occasions, haha.

Just curious, why not sell the Stingray?

Maybe a Sadowsky and a Warwick is a better duo for you?

It was a gift from my parents and it has been my main bass for the longest. Too many emotions to sell for now. Plus I love that it's not that refined. I don't want two really nice and refined basses... I love how the ray gets all dirty and nasty if I start digging in.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Sadowsky a lot... but I really can't sell the ray, and I don't have an infinite amount of resources to keep all the nice basses, hah.

No problem. Honestly, I don't use mine as much. I don't really like that mid scoop sound, so isn't for me. :)

If the buzz is when you fret the first fret, then adjusting the nut won't change it, you're better off loosening the truss rod slightly which will raise the action a little across the whole neck. If there's fret buzz when fretting high on the neck then adjust at the bridge instead. And if it buzzes out when playing open strings, that's when you raise the nut. Three different cures for three diferent symptoms. Did your Warwick come with the manual and the truss rod tool?

Yeah it did. Came with the whole kit. It's only when fretting it does not make the noise on open strings. The bass is getting professionally set up and restrung with DR LoRiders tomorrow but I think I might try loosening it just a little bit.

Hmmm. Good point. I haven't even dealt with it yet, but kept noticing that when I pulled it the output cut back some, so I kept figuring that it was bypassing the preamp. If anything, I'll have fun just trying out the new sound. If it works, fine; if not then no prob. The bass has enough punch to play anything for me! :bassist::D

on a whim, i tried out a trans black corvette 5er (mec pups) at GC yesterday. i had gone there with the intention of trying out a US Jazz, which played beautifully btw (and is $650 used, so heads up, Boston folks!!).
but MAN!! that corvette was sweet! light, full sound and i can't get over how comfortable the board is...much different than a jazz, duh. i guess chunky is for me.

wow. someday i'll be worthy of it....

So I think I'm holding on to my Sadowsky for now... but I really do want a Warwick at some point.

How custom is Warwick's custom shop? I have a great idea for a college graduation gift to myself... haha. I want a custom streamer. Stage 1 pickups with stage 2 spacing (or maybe 19mm to be equal to my Sadowsky?). Custom paint/finish and LEDs (for when I'm feeling extra pretentious). Do they alter string spacings for the custom jobs?

It's pretty much customizeable in every way, except spacing. Rather than changing the spacing on a stage i, they would base the build on a stage II, with different woods.

Warwick.de will have all the info you need.
