Beautiful basses in here guys.

I was the owner of several basses - a 'hand-me-down' Honda P-bass rip-off, then my first, a passive 4 string Yamaha ERB300II; then bought myself my first Warwick Rockbass Five; and got given a Cort acoustic.

I loved the tone of the Rockbass (even though some members will scream "not a real Warwick!"), and it sounded ****-hot after throwing in a Seymour Duncan pre-amp. Took the standad vol, blend, bass and treble controls, and gave me more control with push/pull slap&volume knob, blend, mid, and stacked bass/treble control. Add to that the customizable slap tone when you pull up on the volume, and I was a happy camper for a year. warwick growl at good price.

Then I went in to The Bass Centre on a whim with my father. my pay-check had come in that morning. Every time I'd been in, I'd known the pull of GAS, so hadn't allowed myself to play. This time, I did. I'd been looking to come back to the four-side; and picked up an absolutely lovely natural finished Corvette $$. I'd read phenomenal reviews on them, and always wanted a natural finish on my next bass. I played a few lines, and thought "wow". Then I started fiddling with the controls, and went "oh. my. god. wow." Well I dropped the cash on her then, and never looked back! Absolutely lovely bass. So much versatility, and it just feels so damn good to play that I can't play any of my old ones without having to mentally shift a few gears down.

My biggest gripes? That wood finish is gorgeous, but gets dented so easily (a show with a belt did ALOT of damage), and I'm worried about the effect sweat and dirt will have on the finish (there's only so much bees-wax can protect against).
And the second gripe - I love the double 'buck, but when getting up to speed, I find that the tension delivered closer to the neck isn't quite right, and trying to play between the pick ups takes a bit of getting used to when you come from the soap-bar world. That, and its weird not having a fifth string or soap bar to rest your thumb on.

Ah well, I'm in love anyway!

heres my corvette$$ with my Trace amp and vintage V-4B.

I just picked up this 2001 Corvette Fretless. Love it! It's got a little discoloration on the upper body visible in the pic. Any ideas on how do deal with it? Oh yeah, I want to join the club too.

i have the same where i rest my arm its like a natural patina...i think its cool but a light scotch brite with the grain...and waxx to finish would do the trick i assume: ....i think it looks cool on mine i want it to discolor more...

Congrats, Greg! :hyper:
How does she sound?

Thanks mate. She sounds great.I loved my Thumb but I really needed to get back to playing 4 strings.I just struggled for so long on the 5.I've fallen in love with the bass all over again.Sounds corny, but I cant put this bass down.I stay up at night to play,I get up early in the morning to play.:hyper:

Playing late at night and early in the morning, can't put it down... That does not sound corny at all. It's the story of my life ever since coming to Warwick! :)

The cool thing for me is, when I return home from the hospital in a few more weeks, my immune system will be so compromised that I'm not allowed in public for at least another year! So that means I'll be stuck in my house with 7 Warwicks and an SWR Mo' Bass rig and a custom pedalboard of effects. Poor me...

I won't have to stay up late or get up early. I probably still will, but I'll also have all day, everyday to enjoy my basses! :D

Mate,dont get too comfy.
I know it seems like it's a long way off yet,but you'll be back at work before ya know it.
I remember when I was in pre treatment & thinking I might as well retire. An entire year sounds big when we hear it with our kiddy ears, but to adult ears?We know it's not gonna last 7 probably all come to an end just as we're gettin comfy.:crying:
btw,St.Mark's is still lookin great.;)

I own a 1998 Warwick Thumb Bolt-on 5-string with an all wenge neck. I'll post pics later but you need to know that no matter what happens in my life I will never part with this bass. I have played nearly every model of Warwick and this, for feel not tone, is the best I have ever played. The wenge neck profile is so much more round than the U-shaped radius they use with the ovangkol necks. I am a pseudo-endorser of Warwick (part of their "Local Hero" program) so I have had the fortune of spending time with the likes of Hans-Peter Wilfer, Jonas Hellborg, and Norwood Fisher and can say that Warwick is an amazing company that I stand by proudly. I want a Streamer Stage II next and then hopefully a fretless Thumb NT 5-string. In my dreams.
