It's pretty much customizeable in every way, except spacing. Rather than changing the spacing on a stage i, they would base the build on a stage II, with different woods.

Warwick.de will have all the info you need.

Ah, cool thanks. I wasn't finding what I needed on the US site. So a maple bodied Stage II with stage I electronics it is.

Don't forget that Travelling Without Moving was recorded on a Stage II, though. Very different tone.

Per BP Mag, August 2008-

Q: What instrument did you use to track "Virtual Insanity"? Do you recall the rig?

A: I used a Warwick Streamer Stage I 5-string with MEC pickups. The bass was recorded direct, and I also had a Mesa Boogie 4x10 with various mics on it.

At least "V.I." was the Stage I!

He's lying!:p

Well, I guess he used different basses on TWM too. However, the Stage II Iroquai was the most usual bass live.

I just dl'd a vid of the '97 VMA's-

he was playing his creme SSI 5 w/ blue LED's into a Mesa M2000 and Diesel Powerhouse 1000 cab (410+115).

I have a vid from '96 of him w/ the Iroquai into a Trace setup- probably a V4/V6 into a 410 cab. Hard to tell.

The mix was better on the 96 vid, but that SSI is sooo sexay!!

I'll be seeking a # this weekend. I'm picking up, or rather rescuing, a well abused 'Vette Standard 5 (Ash, Nirvana Black) this Saturday morning. The former owner, I was told, was a hardcore kid who basically treated the bass like a pogo stick. It's got some buckle rash on the back of the body, a little chunk of ovangkol missing from the top of the headstock and most of the hardware screws and pickup screws are rusted silly. Why get it? It's super cheap and I've got a thing for bringing abused gear back from the grave. On another level, I kind of looked at Warwick with a mild disdain for years, but when I tried this bass, I was really stunned at the sinister Jazz-esque tone. I tried other Vette 5ers (ash and bubinga. passive and active) in the past and was less than impressed, but this one really spoke for some reason. I'll be gigging with it Saturday night as well so I'll really be getting to know it in a short amount of time. Anyway, got one crummy photo for now. Nicer ones to follow when I formally request the number.
