How can you get paid work if you don't do what the producer wants? This attitude seems counterproductive. Might be more flexibility with the band in on the decision (especially if they don't know much about basses and how specific gear affects tone). But producers are not only supposed to know this stuff ... they also sign your check! Just sayin....![]()
If you're trying to make money as a studio musician, tracking bass for other people's songs, which includes probably 12 people in the entire country, youve got a point.
but if you're in a band PAYING for studio time to record your own original material, you shouldn't be told what instrument you should or shouldn't play.
