Are you talking about the Yamaha I posted? I'm not sure what you mean by tone port. Are you referring to the resonance ports through the body? In any case it plays very well. It is one of the best 5-strings I have played with a remarkably clear b-string. It is light and has a tonne of growl.

All my basses are passive, 63 P-bass, 66, P-bass, 57 re-issue P-bass, 82 JV J-bass, Parts J-bass, 50-year old upright. Exception to this passive rule; I've got a Aria Custom Shop Electric Upright with a pizo pickup that needs a 9-volt but it has no active vol or tone controls, so I consider it passive. ...... Let me know if it passes the passive test.
