Guys, I have a question for you.

There's a local pawn shop with a bass they're saying is a Pedulla Thunderbass 6 for $700. I'm going to go check it out today, but one thing has me concerned. The picture shows the bass to have only three knobs, and all of the ones that I've seen online have four knobs. Here's an image of it:

Does this look like it's a fake? Or is it just an older model? I'm not very experienced with Pedulla, but I've heard really good things about them and I want to make sure that I'm not spending $700 on a dud. ;)

3 knobs and a toggle switch is from the earlier (and more aggressive) T-bolts - my #1 is from that era (vol/Pan/tone/Thunderguts switch).
MAKE SURE that the truss rod is square, and NOT rounded

Good to know!

Would you mind clarifying what you mean by the truss rod, though? Are there two different styles of truss rod, or is a rounded rod indicative of a lot of wear? Why is the square shape more desirable than a round shape?

The nut needs to be squared - Pedulla uses a different truss rod wrench specifically made for their squared truss rod nuts

Can I join the club too? :)

Got my hands on a 1995 Pedulla Rapture. Best bass I have played hands down and an absolute tone machine while at it.

To perhaps clarify a bit what Envincibal said, a rounded truss rod is essentially one that’s been “buggered” up because someone used the wrong tool on it.

I think I'm going to be joining this club soon. The used Thunderbass 6 I'm looking at is quite well-loved

but I think that $500 is a good price for this bass and a (worn) hard shell case. What do you think?

TheShape beat me to the punch, but that bass would be a great deal at twice the price! Run, don’t walk!

I wasn't able to take off the truss rod cover to check it, but in case it is stripped like that, can it be fixed? And do most techs have a tool that they can use for pedulla truss rods, or do I need to ask around to find a special repairman equipped to work on them?

Where's this at? I'd like to go CHECK IT OUT FOR YOU. Wink wink. I just bought one for $1200. Same electronics.
