I've got a Pedulla Rapture J5. I feel in love with this bass since I read that Ultimate 5 string shootout from Bass Player Magazine around 15 years ago. Last year I was finally able to get it and I just love it!

May I ask how much is yours worth it in the USA? I bought mine in Mexico and here these basses run for around $2000 USD used.
Ya it's a small bit more hifi sounding than the original Bartolini pre. The tone is clearer with a bit less growl I think. Its kind of hard to describe, but I'd say a bit creamier! I've only done 1 gig with it so it's hard to tell. I'll see how i like it after this week of gigs and if I don't like it I'll swap in a 2 band Bartolini pre I got from my friend who swapped his out for a flexcore in his Thunderbolt.

I believe it was the early Buzzes that came in colors - check tombowlus’ post #2 above and you’ll see a red Pentabuzz.

In! Here's my Thunderbass. Cocobolo top. It came the older 3 knob layout, Volume/Blend/Tone but I just recently installed a 2 band Flexcore pre. I took that out again yesterday and put in a Pedulla/Bartolini 2 band pre with Thunderguts. I think the Flexcore was a bit too natural sounding and so it lost some of that signature growl that the bass had. Looking forward to gigging it this weekend to hear the new pre properly!

I've been wanting a T-bolt with a maple fingerboard and figured maple top for several years, but rarely ever see them used

I've been watching that one as well! I've also thought about selling my cocobolo T-bass for one like that. I think I'd prefer the 19mm spacing over my 17.5mm!

I used to own a zebra top T-Bass w/ 19mm spacing and it was incredible: killer tone and the action really couldn't get any lower! Unfortunately I had to sell it a couple of years ago, for emergency surgery for my dog (which was unsuccessful).
I can compare that T-bass with the current T-bass I have (older molder Vol/Pan/Tone/Thunderguts/flamed maple/17.5mm), and the newer zebra-top T-bass sounded much, much better. I ended up changing out the guts in the T-bass I have (Audere pre & Kent Armstrong custom pickups), and that made a HUGE difference: so much more authority in that bass now!
