Not 100% sure about how to add my name to this list but I am certainly wanting to be on it! :)
I made a trade last month for a Pedulla Pentabuzz in Turquoise Green I believe. Serial number puts it at 2002.

My Rapture acted up on the gig tonight - started "popping" intermittently like the preamp power was getting cut. I thought it might be an output jack but that turned out to be fine.
It turned out to be the battery box. Running my finger over the back produced the offending "crackling". I had already bent the copper tabs up a bit with my pocket knife and cleaned them and given them a light coat of dielectric grease but the problem was still there.
What seems to have worked is to put a little shim behind the battery to put more pressure on the contacts. (I cut a thin strip of business card and folded that in half.) Now the crackling is gone.
I might eventually get a new battery box - think I found the replacement Gotoh part here:

But I'm also kind of tempted to replace it with standard 9V connector, some foam and a chrome cover. (My bass has already been hacked and I value reliability over convenience.)

I saw Doug Johns yesterday at the Colorado Bass Slam in Golden. He was playing an cherry sunburst MVP-4 (I assume his signature model). Unbelievable! You obviously can't use the term "Bass Player" to describe both him and me. One of us needs to be called something else. Highly recommend seeing him, if you haven't.

Thanks for the link to the battery box replacement, my Rapture is doing the same thing. My current fix for the popping is a nice piece of duct tape over the box. Problem solved, for now!

The cardboard shim behind the battery seems to be doing the trick for me so far. (Haven't gotten around to ordering a new battery box, yet.)

Yeah I got a 1996 Hexabuzz and I feel some of the lines under my fingers. still plays and sounds amazing. I love my Hexabuzz! Someday soon I'd like to have it go "home" for a neck refinish and setup. But I'm too busy playing it right now:bassist:

Newbie here, figured this is the place that would know. I am a guitar player [sorry about that] with a couple of basses. I have this 85 Pedulla XJ-INT, I've personally never seen another, could you fine folks enlighten me? Thanks!

I have seen only Pedulla (midi) guitars that look like this. Very cool!

You're a guitar player with a couple of basses but have this one. :D That's terrific. A very rare Pedulla bass.

I have owned my Hexabuzz for just over a year and I wanted to share with TB how much I love this bass. I loved it the very first time I touched it and that love has grown tremendously throughout this first year. Only my upright bass gets more attention. I have never been happier with my electric bass sound and technique. The Pedulla advertising slogan of "You never played better" is totally true for me. I play it all the time. Every time I play it, I feel like I am playing at the highest level of proficiency and artistry I have ever experienced. This instrument has inspired me to explore new musical ideas well beyond my abilities of a year ago which has opened up my musical mind and even benefited my upright bass capabilities. This is the only high end electric bass I have ever owned, Maybe I'm just finally experiencing what bonding with a well made instrument really is. I honestly can't imagine ever needing or wanting another bass of this quality. This is truly the one. I have other basses, this one is my first choice for every electric bass gig, and the one I play at home the most because It's the one I always want to play.:bassist::D

Totally understand. I've had my Pentabuzz for barely 4 months and am just in love with it. I use it for everything. First high end bass for me too. Your experience mirrors my own. Played for 13 years before having the honor of puttin my hands on a Pentabuzz, and another 10 years before I could afford to have Michael build me one. They truly are works of art and just ooze playability and tone.
