The Pedulla Club!

Regarding the ergonomics of the MVP/Buzz shape, see these pictures my wife took of me yesterday. The body of the Pedulla seems tiny and sits centrally on the torso. The plucking hand is brought inward. The Cort Rithimic Jeff Berlin model in picture two has the offset feel of a classic jazz bass. It's a distinction that sounds quite dramatic but in practice, it isn't. The Pedulla just feels more compact because it's shorter. It is also considerably heavier than the Rithimic and sounds quite different.

I love my Nuance 4. It gets a lot of gig duty in my rotating arsenal. I would say that describing it as a "richer/warmer MTD" is pretty accurate. This is not a "warm" bass per se, but among my very clear/accurate basses, it is definitely warmer and more punchy than most. It's pretty balanced, overall.

From what I have heard on YouTube, those Nuances are great. I would love to try one.

Good shots. And a darn good looking Pedulla. You don't realize how compact they are until you hold one. It looks like you prefer to wear your basses a bit higher.

I'm 99% sure the official case is a re-branded Reunion Blues Continental RBCB 4.

I bought one for my Buzz and looking at the picture on the Pedulla site, it's gotta be it.

Unless I'm wrong. Then it isn't it...

Great bag btw...
Correct sir. @SmokeyB it is a VERY nice case. I even like it better than my Fodera’s hard case which is very nice too.

This is a long shot, but I’m trying to find an old Pedulla bass that I sold for some stupid reason about three or four years ago.

It was a Thunder Bolt six string with the amber yellow finish. I had to replace the preamp, and I think we replaced it with a Bartolini 4-band pre. The most defining feature was a big worn spot on the finish on the back side. The color finish was entirely worn away in a six-inch area, but the wood was completely smooth. There was also a small crack in the headstock near the B-string tuner.

Here are some actual photos of my bass:

Last I saw it, it was in the hands of a Craigslist guy in the DFW area. I’d seen him on a few other trades, so I think that he flips/sells basses & guitars on a regular basis. If any of you guys have any information about it, I’d really appreciate it!

I definitely saw that one a couple years ago on CL. I think I may have even inquired about it and I remember that scuff wear on the back. Hope you find it.

Well, looks like the e-mail notification checked out again and I’ve been missing all the action. Grrr!

Disregard the previous post regarding the bridge, apparently christin/pedulla have spares of my ABM so gold hardware should be coming Monday! Will post new pics once installed. Can I get a number WayneP?

Sorry for the delay Marcus – congrats on scoring such a unique beauty. New hardware looks awesome! Still trying to fill in the numbers I accidentally skipped, so we’re giving you #241. Welcome to the club!

Say, waitaminnit – did you by chance get the bass from RoxBox ? Can’t be too many 1999 MVPs with that color floating around!

Hey guys...testing the waters here. This is a one owner (bought new in 1999) MVP5 in Peacock Blue. of course the gold is tarnished, but it plays and sounds stellar. Its just been sitting for a few years and wants to be played. Original case tool and manual . I just restrung it and damn... so sell or not to sell?

I posted this question in the Pickups section here, but I thought I may get more Pedulla action in this thread.
I have a Rapture with a single soap bar p/u, Bart. I am seeking pick up replacement suggestions as I am hoping to open up the sound of the bass. It has the typical Bart compression going on and I am thinking that I might prefer a single coil sound for this bass.
I am open to all p/u suggestions as well as pre-amp replacement in an effort to get rid of that Bart darkness and compression.
If anyone has done this with their bass, I would be keen to hear your experience.
Thanks,

Fishheadjoe

My Rapture 5 has a Q-tuner... which definitely opened up the sound of the bass. It's wired with a series/single/parallel switch; however I use series most of the time. Not sure if the current Q-tuners even offer four-conductors as an option. Regardless, series on a Q-tuner still has much more presence than the stock Bartolini C humbucker. The Rapture's Bartolini preamp also has a bit of compression and roll-off, though most of the dark sound comes from the pickup.
