I don’t know. There are so many questions, what strings do I get that closely resemble you’re name brand. Where do I go for service and replacement parts Preamp specs? Maybe he just needed a clean break or had a personal issue to deal with. I wish him the best. He is a fine craftsman and a true artist.
I am pretty sure Pedulla used stock or very close to stock preamps for his basses. I know of no stock Pedulla that was not equipped with Bartolini electronics. When I opened my bass up, it said the preamp was a Bartolini NTMB two band.
The MVP, Buzz and Rapture lines may use stock preamps but the Thunder bass lines have custom electronics.
I think there may have been a personal or health reason. His retirement came very sudden and abruptly. In one of the last interviews I read, he even mentioned there was some new design in the works. Something changed over the last couple of years.

this is my 2004 pentabuzz I ordered it special with no fret markers out of Huber us because of my double bass playing. I remember talking to Michael about this and how he had picked out the wings himself. He had a pretty good staff then and his business was at the height of its power. I ordered it special with no fret markers out of Hubris because of my double bass playing. There are side dots of course. Michael refinished the fingerboard for me two years ago and put on an ebony nut at my request it plays beautifully with a great jazz upright growl.

He has deleted or hidden the official Pedulla Facebook and YouTube pages too. There were some great videos of Doug Johns demonstrating Pedullas that are now presumably lost. It seems a shame, almost like he is burying the memory of the brand.
I agree with you Mastodon2. I've long felt, but now I'm able to verbalize it -- something does not smell right.
Maintaining a website (as well as FB, Youtube) is easy and cheap. If cost or hassle were an issue, finding someone to maintain and pay for it e.g. a good customer, a pro, a relation would be easy.
It appears to be a complete "let go" and feels more like a lurking, broken heart than a strategy.
IMHO, it's pretty hard to retire if you are still keeping web sites and support available to who ever whats it. Not knowing details, if it were me, I would do the same, cut all ties and slide into retirement.
How much "retirement" does one see if they are dealing with support calls inquires etc? Probably could stay open for years and not produce one more bass and the phone would just keep on ringing.
I hope the Pedullas' enjoy the fruits of their labours and have a long retirement together...

Oh I wish him all the best, I just dont understand why he appears to have erased his presence. Even if he just changed the Facebook page to a fan page rather than business and passed it to a fan, it would be better than nothing. Website hosting costs virtually nothing these days and he could have turned off comments on the YouTube videos and left them there for time immemorial.
Customer service could be solved with an FAQ "Here is where I get the Pedulla strings, these are as close as you'll get, this is what I use from Bartolini etc", would be better for owners than nothing.
As I say, I don't begrudge the guy a happy and restful retirement, he's put in his years of hard work and given us some amazing instruments, it just seems a shame to remove those repositories of videos pictures and information.

Well guys, "Out of busniess" seems pretty clear to me. "Gone", if you need it in a word. I don't feel it necessary to speculate on his reasons if he choose not to give them. Mike has no responsibility to us and I don't blame him for cutting the cord clean.
Some pages, such as the history of serial numbers, were still available last I checked.
As for the videos, yeah I miss them, esp the Mark Egan demos. But why leave a promotional demo, presumably sponsored personally buy Pedulla and designed to promote the product, for a bass you can't buy? There are plenty of others out there.
