The Pedulla Club!

As you might figure out from my previous posts, I'm obsessed with the series II. They look really unique to me.
There's one on ebay right now, at what i believe to be a ridiculously low price... in spite of the cosmetical issues. $700 buy it now option...
Unfortunately right now i'm in no way capable of spending money on gear.
someone should bring it into the club!

Thunderbass.
Does it have serial number starting with "ET-XXXX"? or "T-XXXX" ?
I heard that ET's with "Exotic Top"(Birsdseye Maple, Bubinga, Cocobola, Lacewood, Quilted Maple, Zebra, etc) and E's with Flame Maple (AA, AAA, or AAAAA) all the way from the top through to the bottom/back.
Mine has Cocobola top but starting with "T".
I have known it as "ET5", though.

Anyone with Idea about the Serial ?

Did you ever get an answer to this serial number question? I'm looking at getting a thunderbass 5 with zebra wood and it's serial starts with a "T." So, I'm confused like you is it a ET or a T.

Got the answer on the serial number thing. I called Mike Pedulla, and he got back to me within an hour. The T in the serial number just means it's a Thunderbass. Basically, if it has the exotic wood and the 5 piece neck it's an ET!

That's just what Mike says on his web site:

"The Thunderbass design was our first departure from our familiar MVP/Buzz models, with a more streamlined and modern look. As with MVP/Buzz, the T is made with a three piece maple neck and solid maple wings."

"We’ve used different pickups and electronics to produce considerably different tone (see Electronics). The ET (Exotic Top) Thunderbass uses laminated wings set to our five piece neck that includes two thin strips of Bubinga. The increased laminating redefines the attack while the Bubinga accentuates the lowmids."

It's amazing that Mike actually took the time to personally tell you what he has already posted on his web site. That's extremely good customer service!

I did read up on the Pedulla website. The question I had was not posted there. Please re-read the posts about this more carefully; so you understand better.

The issue wasn't how the ET versus the T are designed, it was the serial numbers. Some Thunderbass ET's (like yours) have an ET in the serial number. The one I'm looking at getting has a T. I realized it had the 5 peice neck and the zebra top, so that's where the confusion laid for me. So, I asked what the letters in the serial number signify. And Mike WAS great.

Here's an email I got:
"Since the ET is actually just a version of the Thunderbass, we could have
used "T" in the serial number.
They are all hand-done (and we're human : ) so it's possible that any ET
Thunderbass could have been
done with a "T". What makes an ET different from a T is the construction,
not necessarily the letter with
the serial number..."

All ET's are T's. So, the serial number of an ET can start with "T" or with "ET". The construction (5 piece neck, laminated wings, exotic wood) is what determines whether or not it is actually an ET or "just" a T. I think I understand it OK.

Oh man, I know! Pedulla has ruined me for all other basses at this point. After I got home from playing the ET 5, I picked up my Yamaha trb1005 and was all ugh. I almost didn't want to play it.

I'm excited and can barely wait. GC is shipping around Sept 5th. There's a 30 day hold for used equipment or I'd already have it.

Here's my 1992 MVP6.

It is with heavy hands and a hardened heart I must announce (and denounce) publicly my unletting of my prized Rapture 5. :( (Got threadstarters approval.)

Carnage: (NSFW!) http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=569888

As a special to readers of this thread, I will also throw in my super low Pedulla Club member #26, as I will be cast out as pariah for admitting this epic shortcoming. Unfit to swim in the Thunderbolt and Thundergut and Rapture-replendent seas, I shall slurk off to parts unknown and cease consuming the local oxygen.

Hey BadJazz. Not to worry. In case you haven't noticed, our moderator extraordinaire, and current holder of the coveted #1 slot *ahem* owns no Pedullas at this current time.

I however have just acquired a late-90's Pentabuzz from TB member gre107, who was curiously not a club member. It's the 2nd Pedulla in the arsenal, adding it to my black-n-maple Rapture J2. :hyper: Pics soon.

well...I did actually just pick up a Thunderbass in the Classifieds :)

sadly I am going to have to move it pretty quick though because It was a bit of an impulse buy and I really can't afford it... :(
