I hope its ok to post this question in this forum... I have a Thunderbolt (3-knob + t-guts switch) that I'm thinking about replacing the stock Barts with Nordstrands, but I'm not sure which direction to go. Basically I'm looking for a more aggressive tone (I really do like the sound of this t-bolt, more so than my newer one with the 4-knob {vol/bal/treb/bass} + t-guts, but have really drawn an interest in Nordy's since upgrading my Carvin, previously loaded with Barts deep tone, with a set of NJ5S & and an Audere pre - wow did that wake up the tone!).
Any suggestions? I'd like to stay away from true single coils because of the hum issue. I'm also considering replacing the stock pre with an Audere.

You could try the Bart Classic series pickups. I had the same idea for my TB5 but would have had to rout the body for the larger Nordies. I did NOT want to do that! I got the tone I was looking for.

I've had this bass since last Thursday. Secured a truss rod wrench on Friday night and started to try and set the bass up. The action/bow in the neck was, well, pretty bad. I was able to tighten the rod about 1/3 of a turn, which did bring it down, but not as much as I would ideally like.
Here's the thing, I can't seem to get the thing any tighter! Feel like I could break off the head stock if I pry it any more.
Now, since this is my first and only Pedulla, I'm wondering if any of you have any ideas for me? Is there a neck adjustment under the pick guard I could use, or is the rod, under the cap on the head stock my only option?
BTW - I am really growing fond of the sound of this bass! I thought, being a single pup bass, it's tone would be somewhat restrictive, but once I put new strings on it, soncially, it came to life.
I'm also quite fond of the thin neck and only wish I could get the action just a bit lower.

So I have a 1995 Thunderbolt with the old 3 knob set-up. I have been considering changing my preamp. I found an aquilar vol/vol, mid, bass.treb with a mid sel switch. It would not require any drilling. What do you all think about that? I don't have too much adjustment now unless I use the amp and wanted more on fly. Thoughts?

I will submit a picture when I get to the house.

Hmm...as far as I know the truss rod adjuster on the head is the only way to adjust it. I would suggest contacting Pedulla directly and asking them. The last thing you want to do is break off that little adjuster nut...

First off, the truss rod isn't for adjusting action, you use the bridge saddles for that. Second don't tighten it too much if you force it the adjusting rod will break off leaving you with an expensive repair. Third, there is no other way to adjust the truss rod.

Michael, I get it, my wording was shall we say, well, poor!
I have adjusted the saddles, but I am trying to minimize the neck bow. MY KINGDOM FOR ANOTHER HALF TURN!LOL
I will not turn it any more, if the current torque on the nut stays the same. I had decided to let it sit for a few days and see if it moves on it's own (the neck), but as of last night, it seems to have stayed the same.

I saw in your other thread someone recommended taking the strings off and loosening the truss rod. What I've read about people doing is hanging a weight from one end of the neck (usually the headstock) while the other is held down in a vice maybe and let the weight take the forward bow out. Considering the price you paid and the fact that it was hanging in a pawn shop for over a year you should bring it to a pro. Maybe even get a new neck made by Pedulla himself.

haha, i think that just gives you the ultra-#37 status :) unless of course you want to donate one of your pedulla's to me...then I might be able to up your number a bit. haha.

Here are my two Pedullas....both 8-strings! The baby blue one I bought new in 1986 and the black one, a 1993, I chased for almost 10 years each time it popped up for sale and finally landed it recently.

Anyone else here have a MPV8?
