The Pultec Trick Thread.

Anyone use the D1 or D2 setting?
If you want deep lows, these two will bring it. I used both settings with drop D tuning in a band setting, but settled on 45 for more balance string to string. I was only using the LoRider with a compressor.

You can dial in more mids and/or highs to the D1 & D2 settings, if you want. I used a boost and EQ to round out the overall tone . But that was at home.

Text didn't post. Let's try again.

I just had this Equinox clone built for me. All I can say is WOW.

Check out Dane's Dandy Duplicates through Reverb. Quality build. Great price. And fast turnaround. It also has an internal charge pump to get 18V from a standard 9V input.

And yes, the trick I'd real

I'd love a little more writing on the device, but it's great that the knobs are grouped this way and that it all fit into a small enclosure with top jacks. Also, the charge pump is a nice touch.

yeah, i've built a few of them and it was pretty hard to get all of the labeling on a 125B. also the pedal pcb and spaceman versions reverse the polarity of you signal so i installed a phase reverse circuit in some of my builds so it's in phase with the input:

I'm not sure where I left off but the Zio is on my home practice board, Lowrider on live setup. Always on and as far as settings, it moves. I've used D1 D2 30 and 45 mostly. It moves around as does the intensity but so easy and fast when performing. Such a big difference when off and I can't live without it. The Zio...I'm keeping it cuz I can't return it but it wasn't expensive so...
I have enough pre amp pedals and wouldn't have got the Zio if I had the Lowrider first. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the Zio, I have 3 of Source Audio's products and I think they make great gear but what the Lowrider does is what I was looking for.

Grumpf. I'm really tempted but I have to resist...

I understand. But it is a pedal that I have Zerofive regrets about. It makes such a huge improvement to the bottom without the stupid low freqs we don't need to hear. I also use an HPF at the final but the Lowrider seems to add the low goodness without causing anymore low end nonsense. Hard to explain without using it. As old as I am I don't remember the Pultec trick from the studio dayz, I was there, I recorded many things many times and maybe they used it but I wasn't paying attention. But forward to today, live, I love it!

Yes, I know how it sounds, because I found a plugin on my DAW to do it. I use it on all songs since I've discoverd it (after reading this post, thank you @el murdoque), and I agree it's like a magic "enhance" button.
But I must resist buying the Lowrider for gigs, because I'm truying to reduce the number of pedals I'm using.
