The man's attention to detail is nothing short of stellar and although it may not be big in numbers, I would'nt mind starting a club for those who use his basses, or just big fans of his work.

I've owned a great R-Bass and I only have good words for the guy. I traded the bass for another boutique bass, but the R-bass still has a place in my heart

Man oh man he builds a supper nice bass.

I had an amboyna burl 4 that I got years ago with a Haz Labs pre, a maple board, and Bartolini 9W4Js in it. I would KILL for that bass again. I've had close to 10 others over the years, but that one took the cake. SUCH an idiot for selling it...

Ray posts on bassgear.com a lot. I know I've seen him post 2 basses he's selling within the past week.

Ray is a really cool guy to talk to about basses, woods, electronics and the industry as a whole not to mention and outstanding builder. so lets see the love!

My R-Bass was a single-cut mahogany w/ redwood top, Nordstrand pickups, Custom U-Retro preamp

It played just as good (maybe a little better, to be honest) than my Foderas, at all levels

I traded it for a Dingwall Z2, but I still miss it

played this thing out ata rehearsal the other night and it absolutely killed with ym markbass f-1. was perfectly clear in the mix but not in a way that disrupted what the songs were all about.

My bass...got it new but as a trade. R-Bass Fretless Five.

Huge low end out of 34" scale no less.

Today it has standard bart's instead of the Nordy jazz p/u's under-wood. Also swapped the passive electronics for an aggie three-band.

Front is bookmatched myrtle.
