What made me take up DB (and get into jazz) in addition to EBG was being told by my bandmates we were starting a jazz trio so I had better teach myself Upright since we were all pretty sick of backing a country/pop singer for a whole summer tour (even though it was fun and great money) and then hearing guys like the Bad Plus and EST play.
