All, five of mine are white laminate/formica-ish sides.
Not tape, nor wood...huh.
Maybe I'm not understanding...

That looks like mine, what I can see of it;)

Bartman:
What the heck, you ditched yer Houser avatar?

Just when I needed to see it too; ain't this your Houser?

Yep. That's it. I was playing it last night as a matter of fact. It'll be back as my avatar, but the Dawgfish is new, so it's getting the nod right now.

In the meantime, here's a little bass porn for ya, Alan:

As you can see, mine has the plastic white sides as do all of my Reverends. Here's a shot of the pots on the BH5; you can barely make out the inside of the white plastic sides at the bottom of the screen. The wood pieces glued underneath the top are used to screw in the pickguard.

AFAIK, every Reverend bass had this construction method. I've seen pics before of the plastic ring body thingys before they put the top and bottom on. I can't remember where I saw it though. I think the Reverend site used to have some pics of how Reverends were made before they moved production overseas. :hmm:

I noticed looking at bovine's pics of your BH that it's black on back, not lava.
Weird: my blackwood is the same "not quite lava switl" front and back...

Yeah, the back is black on mine. :hmm: I was actually surprised to see that the Lava 5L that was for sale several months ago had the Swirl on both front and back. Seems like it would get thrashed on the back side.

Maybe it was an upcharge to get a fancy metallic back, too?

IIRC, it was an extra $75-$125 to get a matching metal back. My old Dragonfly Green PJ was metal on both sides.

My bug-eye JJ is bug'd front and back, as is my moroccan gold p/j...never knew that was "an upcharge."

So Chef . . . your five are, IIRC:

Bugeye JJ
Gold PJ
Turquoise 5L
Blackwood 5L
Mahogany BH5.

Is that right? I don't think I've seen a group shot of all five.

BTW, if I'd had the chance to order a Reverend, I'd have paid the upcharge every time. I wish my BH5 had a Lava back, but it's too late now.
