Well, while I'm here I'm going to show off my BH5 that might (big might) be for sale in the next week or so.;)

BHBody.gif

That's gorgeous!!

What sort of price are you hoping for and would you ship to the UK?

FWIW, I almost pulled the trigger on EBMatt's 5L... I decided to wait for something that I wouldn't have to put that much repair work into, but it's a SWEET looking bass, and a great price, and Matt was EXTREMELY helpful with me, sending me all sorts of photos and the like... A+ guy.

you should grab the one thats up on ebay right now...you know you can trust the seller! :)

Someone here has had a "BH5 wanted" in their sig for a loong time.
PM him.
That's dumbdrum. I'll send him a PM. I feel compelled since that's the advice I gave him -- I had "want to buy Lava Swirl Reverend Brad Houser" for many months in my sig line for months before someone found one and led me to it.

I can't say I didn't briefly consider how nice that gold BH5 would look next to my Swirl one. But that would be downright piggish of me. :p

Nice Houser. I like the exposed pole pieces.

Question: has any *ever* seen a maple necked Houser?

Yeah, love the exposed poles. Look great on those pickups. That's a FANTASTIC looking bass.

Not me. I've only seen pictures of about 4-5 or so total other than the ones in the gallery. Such a beast may not exist. If there is one, it's probably one of a kind, or a VERY small number.
I been playing the *crap* outta mine...Bartman, take note:
at least on mine, my "it's too dark thing" has been mostly alleviated by not running the mini dips in the same place. If I run one pickup in series, I'll run the other in single coil, or parallel, and blend the pups accordingly to brighten up the tone.
Yeah, I'm finding that my favorite tone is coming from running the neck pickup in single coil, and the bridge pickup in parallel. It's still HUGE sounding, but has enough treble to cut through pretty well.

I've been playing the crap out of mine, too, even though I'm mostly playing fours in the band right now. It's easily my #1 5-string, having passed my Sadowsky long ago.

WOW! We do have a Pretty Lively board these days. I've been down with a Sore Throat, due to sailing in High Winds, & Light Rain Saturday. Good fun for the Novice sailor though!

Glad to hear Bart & Gary are pleased with their respective Catches, and I'm looking forward to the DragonFly later this week.:hyper:

Back to bed for this Sick Fisherman...

A couple of questions for my fellow fishermen:

1) is it possible for a pot to get so dirty that it can't be cleaned? I've sprayed contact cleaner into the pots of the Dawgfish about 5 times with little effect. These are the dirtiest pots I've ever encountered. Should I keep trying with the cleaner at different angles, etc. or give up and replace the pots? I'd like to keep it as stock as possible . . .

2) Are there any ATA/flight cases that might fit a Reverend well? I'd love to take the Dawgfish with me to Georgia on our annual trip this summer. I'm getting more leery of shipping Reverends these days after seeing some damage.

Thanks!

Get well, Tony!

Pots are pots, man. Just get some new ones. Alpha or CTS brand. Easy to replace, will get rid of that crackle. Keep the old ones in case these basses get stupid vintage value like Fenders.

Good idea. I can always hold on to the pots for the reason you've described.

Duh. Sometimes the best solutions are the most obvious. <hits self on forehead>

Has anyone tried to fit a fish into a flight case? I've heard some bad things about the SKB bass safe, though it would seem to be easier to fit a variety of basses (including an odd shaped one like a fish) in it.

First pic of the Dawgfish in action. I wasn't planning on wearing the Georgia shirt but forgot to change before the gig.

Bonus points to the first person who can figure out what the two basses are behind me (you can make out the horn of one, and the headstock of another). :ninja: They're not mine, BTW -- too boutiquey and modern for my tastes, though both are exceptional instruments.

Drozd and Ritter!?!?

Bartman: Caig Deoxit Gold, followed by Caig lube. You can get a service kit from musicians friend and othyers that has both.

Nice to have a pic of your face to put with the name!

Thanks! I'll give it a try. Easier than pulling the pots in any event.

I found another couple o' action pics of my ugly mug with the PJ:

Great bass face on the last one, huh? Hopefully the snappy T-shirt makes up for it a little. :p

And yes, that is one hell of a nice BH5, EBMatt.

Not to derail the thread, and get away from Bartman's beautiful mug, but when did Reverend change the side material on the Rumblers? My two old JJ's were from the late 90's, and had the white Danelectro style "tape" on the sides. The PJ I just picked up from Crazy Tony has solid sides.
Just wonderin'......
