Yes, #57 was mine, I sold it to a gent who had never played a Fish, and was interested in one! Must be he didn't like it.... those are even my pictures of it! (And he made a bit of money on it...)

I've currently got #465 (bass #47) and #502 (bass #62.) Recently parted with #576 (bass #90.) I forget what the serial # was on my bugeye XL, but it was defintely somewhere north of 1,000. I got that one in 2000.

The first year for the 5L was 1999. That's when I got mine, 5L #19 (overall serial # 700-and-something), green with a gold pickguard. I've never really been a 5-string player and that bass probably would have ended up not getting much use, but I still curse myself for selling it. The circumstances were so stupid.. :rollno:

Dave, see my edit on the blue one: too much typing at once, but I was getting that from the Rev Guitar& Bass archived serial numbers, on their website...

OK, I'll play.

Here's what I got:

Reverend 5L white/gold (aka Thumpy) - R5L #8, ser #606. (early '99)
Reverend XL red/black (aka Dawgfish) - #1882 (2000)
Reverend Brad Houser Lava Swirl - #2576 (2001)
Reverend PJ/JJ white/white (originally white/gold) - #4490 (2005)

Chef, are you really up to 6 fish now?? :eek: :bassist:

Yup. In fact, my 5L (#00606) starts with two zeros. Apparently they were preparing for five-digit serial numbers from early on.

Anyone else have an original B/W case with red lining? The other two cases I have (for the BH5 and the PJ) have the black interior . . . It is also slightly larger than the other two -- a little too large in fact, as the bass can move around some in the case.

Do it!

After struggling with mine for so long, I think I've finally come to terms with it sonically.
The Mesa Mpulse 600 seems to really agree with it.

I'm really liking the sound of it through the new Genz Shuttle/Bergantino AE410 "old man back saver" rig, but this weekend I'll be sitting in on the gig, as I won't replace the bassist full-time until next month, so it will be through his rig, with his settings.

Fortunately, he often brings his Read Purity/Crest CA9/Berg NV610 rig to this particular venue. I've yet to hear a bass through it that didn't sound fantastic. :cool:

You betcha. That may be the single best rig I've ever heard for rock. I absolutely LOVE the Read and the NV610. The Reverend PJ just plain kills through it.

That being said, I'll never get a rig like it because I just don't want to have to move it. The Shuttle/AE410 is just fine, and is a total breeze to move.

But if I didn't have to move my rig, I'd have one just like it. :p

I have two cases with red lining. They switched to the black lining sometime before bass #100, because my old Red Snapper, bass #90, came with a black-lined case. It was a bit larger, and also proportioned differently inside. My Fender fits in the red-lined cases, but the black-lined one wouldn't accept it.

Thanks. It somehow seems a little more special as it has Joe's initials and is such a low number. :)

It's also still the most comfy 5-string neck I've ever played.

Interesting info, Dave! I prefer the black interior cases that I have due to the better (tighter) fit. I'm considering getting a Gator Poly ATA case for my Dawgfish, and then lining the interior with a cutout of foam to fit the Reverend shape. Then I'll probably mail it to Georgia for my annual August trip. That may be the best way to ensure it arrives in one piece.
