a carvin for a rev? sounds not like the i-deal. i would spend some time with carvin for some shows first and then decide.

I'm not gonna have any paying gigs anytime soon, unfortunately.
This isn't like I'm trading a Reverend for a Carvin. I've just been jonesin' for a fretless, and the Carvin fit my budget and looks like a great bass. (I thought about defretting my Reverend 5, but I don't want a lined fretless, especially with a maple board.) I don't have to sell a bass -- the Carvin is coming out of my bonus from work -- but from a practical and financial standpoint, I'm not real keen on having basses sitting around unplayed. That would lean toward selling the 4-string, but it'll be tough to part with that one after 13 years.

Nice 5L on eBay. I think I'm going to go after it. I've always regretted getting rid of my 5L and the one on the bay is as close to Thumpy (early one) as I'm likely to get. Also I have gig money, lots of gigs coming up, and a birthday next month. I like the color too. I may be willing to go fairly high on it.

Just finalized details with Reverend today...they're shipping a prototype Rock Orange Dub King on my birthday, next Monday!

Chef or anyone else: I know the 5-stringers are 35" scale. Do they need the extra long 36" scale strings or can the regular 34" scale sets be made to fit?

I've got a set of standard-length Fender 8250s on my 5L and they fit.
But, I had to use the super-long set of Chromes.
