Mercalli 5 Fam Fam!!
I love the neck on mine. I want to put it on every bass I own.
The neck is awesome. It sits great in my hand and the spacing is super comfy.

wish I could order a replacement.... without having to buy a whole new bass
I want try to a variety of round wounds on it. Any suggestions are welcome! I have a pair NYXLs lying around so I'll start there.

Put a set of short scale GHS Pressurewounds on my Wattplower and am really happy with them! Sometimes I'll need more zing, but the midrange covers a lot of ground w/ my Origin SV.
well my suggestion is always flats so not much help there. However, they do sound great on a mercalli. Not my video but you can hear some good sounds here:
Let us know how those sound, I use regular nickel XLs and after the initial "zing" wears off, they are very thumpy on the Mercalli V.

that is the best Mercalli V neck. Same one as I have on mine. Love the orange and black.
My favorite rounds are DR Fat Beams. They never get overly bright and "pingy" the way some nickels do. The current set on my Justice is about 6 months old and still has good life.
I've tried a few, but have settled on Roto 66 stainless on my Mercalli 5 and Roto 66 nickel on my BH5

Other than working on the nut, I'd probably need a long wind 38" bc of the reverse headstock?

Looking for Flats reco's for my Mercalli 5.
I've never played flats and I think they would feel and sound amazing on the Mercalli. I just have no idea what I'm even looking at while shopping and I would rather not go thru a couple hundred bucks testing the flavors.

Been through many flats and my favorite are the LaBella LTFs, LaBella 760FL, and the GHS Precision Flats. I've got the GHS on my Mercalli 5. They're not silky smooth like the LaBellas or have that piano-like chime in the high strings, but they're percussive and deep and have lots of thump. I especially like them with the neck pickup soloed. Imo, ymmv, etc.
If you want bright sounding flats, D'Addario Chromes would be my recommendation.
I'm not a full time flats player but I've tried a number of different ones and have owned multiple Mercalli 5's and the best flat match for me was the Dunlop Flats. By far the best B string and an excellent balance between thump and enough high end to be articulate.
I've got the GHS Precision Flats on my Reverend Raymond. My bass shares the split brick pickup with the Mercalli. These strings have a nice deep thump to them, which is what I'm looking for. I don't know what type of music you'll be using them for, but if you want that sound, but still a tad of brightness, the GHS Precision Flats would be a good choice.
