Hello fellow Reverenders, has anyone here gone from a Mercalli to a Dub King? I've got a Mercalli 5 that I enjoy, though I've got other fivers I like more. I was thinking about potentially trading for a Dub King, so I can keep most of what I like about the Mercalli and expand my four string arsenal.
Any pluses/minuses folks have experienced making the move? Thanks!

I've never owned a Mercalli, but I've owned a Dub King and have played the Mercalli.
Tonally they're similar, but the spacing away from the bridge is different - Dub King has a neck pickup closer to the fretboard and further away from the bridge, so it gets deeper (the Dub part). Bridge pup is largely the same.
Feel-wise, it's long vs short scale, but string spacing is the same, so it should't feel too alien. The body will feel the most different imo - sharp edges on the Dub King sides vs. contours on the Mercalli.
Thanks for your thoughts! The neck pickup closer to the fretboard is definitely a plus. Not so much are the sharp edges. I think I may have read another of your posts where you said that was what made you sell/trade it?
Comfort is definitely important, though the other factors are equally weighed.
one big minus would be a string... 5 minus 1 is 4
Though for some of us that's a plus ;-)

Hi Reverend fans. Any thoughts about the Fatfish? What about the jazzbomb vs thick brick neck pickup? Does anyone know why the most recent version has a 2x2 headstock vs the reverse 4 in line headstock of earlier versions? I like the esthetic of the reverse but maybe there's a solid reason they went the other way? I've been wanting one for a while. Getting close to pulling a trigger. Help me make the right decision.

I had a v1 fatfish for a while but had to sell it. Wish I still had it. I really liked it. It was very light weight and sounded good. I did switch out the jazzbomb for a Nordstrand 51 j just for something different. Loved the medium scale. I really wish reverend would make another medium scale bass.
Any change to the model was done at the behest of Brad houser the fatfishes signature artist.
This is explained in one of the Namm videos on YT. It was a change BH had requested prior to his untimely death.
