I have the Two Tone case for my 20th Anniversary Double Agent... LOVE it... they are not cheap but are really nice... I have a Mercalli 5 FM out for delivery today. If it doesn't fit sunggly in one of my Universal cases I'll be ordering a Two tone.

Fantastic! Can't wait to hear your impressions. Yes, the cases are very nice. tip: don't "use" your original Reverend two-tone tear drop case. After my very first one got all beat to hell from my hauling it around, I don't subject the original cases to that anymore. I have put my gigging bass in an aftermarket hard-shell case.

What's this? We use cases to baby our instruments.... now I gotta baby my cases too?

I have a buddy that has gig bags for his guitar cases...

I know, right? Those Reverend cases are so cool and pretty and they are built well, but they do show the wear and tear they will be subjected to in a busy gigging situation. If I were only carefully taking my bass out of my Reverend case once a week at the local jam session, I wouldn't worry about it.

These are very special in a number of ways: design, materials, hand-made in Michigan, very limited production, etc. I would totally play a current Reverend, they are simply not as special as the earlier basses.

And lastly, let's remember I am seriously thinking about buying my first second gen Reverend bass. :)

I don't care where it's made... what I care about it is that it is made by people with a talent and passion for the instrument and craft. Your example of the knife is a good one.. my father is a knife maker. Talented and passionate about the craft... he is not passionate about sushi knives though... but that guy in Korea making the sushi knives is is probably just as passionate about knife making and the Sushi art as anyone or more... I'd trust his craftsmanship every bit as much as the Japanese craftsman.

I respect your position, certainly.

I would by a knife made in Korea but I would only buy a deba bocho from Japan: it's an intrinsically Japanese knife. But, yeah, I'm sure there are people outside Japan passionately making perfectly wonderful deba bochos.

Likewise, I liked Reverends more when they were made where they were born. If that had been Macedonia, I wouldn't have liked it if they'd moved to Michigan. Is this notion largely romantic/nostalgic? Heck ya it is!

This may surprise you: I'm a wine guy. But I don't drink wine made in the USA.

Only way to do it, is if your neck is screwed up, then you can get one, but I think you have to send your entire bass back so they can fit the neck onto the body. I ordered a body that was different from my neck, but I had to send in the neck to have the Rev crew attach it to the body.

Reverend doesn't sell necks or bodies straight out because they put the finishing touches on the basses in the States when they come from Korea, so they have to make sure the body holes line up with the neck bolts, etc., same with the pick guards and pickups, which is probably why you just can't order a neck like it was a fender or something cookie cutter like that. I don't work for Reverend, but I think this is accurate given my experiences with them. Love their stuff.

I was able to buy a surplus BH5 neck when Reverend ceased production of the phenolic basses. The trademark little bump on the side of the head stock had been sawn off and there was no decal. Sometime later I spoke to Joe Naylor to see if he happened to have a BH5 body laying around. He didn't. Some time yet even later, Joe contacted me out of the blue to say he had stumbled upon a BH5 body in storage. Super cool. Of course, I bought it and that's how I came to have the unofficial 80th BH5.

TB Reverend Owners - I need your help! BOTH of my Reverends were stolen this weekend. I'm gutted.

They are: a Blue Rumblefish and a one-of-a-kind re-finished silver Brad Houser.

They were stolen in Akron, Ohio, but could well be headed out of state. Please keep and eye out and let me know via PM if you see them. Of course I want the idiot who stole them to face some music, but I really just want my beloved Reverends back so I can make some music.

If you'd like, I will send the Serial # info by PM.

Thanks for any help you can give a brother!
