Everyone at Reverend are HUGE Descendents fans. We made sure we got to him when they played in Detroit a few weeks ago

Picked up a 20th Anniversary Mercalli 5. Pics once it stops being crappy here. So far so good. Ordered parts to rewire V/V/T (my preferred setup for two pickup basses) and am working on finding the strings that work best. Have Labella 760FL's on now but might be a little too dark.

Looks beautiful and Balances perfectly. Seriously perfect.

A little bright right now but here are two before I hit the road. Bass is very nice. The aluminum pickguard is a slab. Brings back memories of my Rumblefish XL.

Yep. They are aluminum so are very light.

Not sure. I'd say probably standard 6mm. I got these firm guitar parts resource.

Similar knobs are sold by best bass gear and are a little nicer but more expensive.

I found these guys which look like they have the same shaft width (.25mm) and look pretty cool.

Got to take the new Mercalli 5 out for a test drive with an actual band. Dive bar, band where the leader just calls whatever he wants regardless of who knows it. Free beer. Yes, free beer.

Playing through a Marbass Ninja1000 into a Faital reloaded single 12. Set the gain. Rolled to the front pickup and never touched anything the rest of the night. Really was convinced I was going to change the Labella flats I have on there but after last night, not sure. Sounded great all the way up and down the fretboard. Sat perfectly in the mix ( 2 guitars sometimes 3, Keys, drums, harmonica, 3 vocals). Sounded just right like a great P bass.

Will be rewiring my controls V/V/T this weekend. See if I get any different sounds.

I had the same experience, mine is strung with Chromes, and I also thought it offered a pretty convincing P-Bass tone (Can't wait to record with this beauty).

I find myself favoring the neck pickup too, but there are a few tunes where I solo the bridge, I gotta say, it tears right through the mix, I found the bridge pup tone was not quite like a MM or a Jazz, something in between...but, when soloing the bridge pickup, I've had to roll the highs back a bit, it gets pretty snarly (though some really dig that :thumbsup:).

P like was what I was hoping for. I can get the same thing on my Gibson 5 string though with much more clarity. Was looking for something P like I could leave flats on. I like chromes but only after completely broken in. Just takes too long for me.

I haven't found the back pickup usable but think I may have a wiring issue. Solo'd the pickups are extra loud. Blended they get noticeably quiet and the highs on the rear pickup are very muted. Hoping poking around with the wiring will give me some more usable tones.

Wow, bummer that it's doing that. :(

I don't hear any volume differences regardless of where my blend is, it's pretty even across the board, my strings are basically new, which could be contributing to my extra treble...like you said it takes FOREVER for Chromes to break in.

I hope you're able to sort the wiring issues out.

Same here. It was really obvious with the stock round wounds. I'm sure Reverend would have helped if I would have asked but I was planning to rewire anyway. It's not like I could buy a bass and just leave it alone :rolleyes:.

I've got LaBella Black tapes on my Decision, and it sounds absolutely killer.
