After getting my bass tech to setup the Rumblefish (it wasn't in a very playable condition when it arrived), he made some interesting suggestions for re-configuring some of the wiring, among other modifications.

It looks like we will be moving the input jack from the front panel to the side and then adding a second volume knob to enable each pickup to be controlled separately, along with replacing the existing pots and switch. We are also putting in a graphite nut, and probably replacing the tuners with Schallers.

Should be pretty cool when it's all done. I'll post pictures.

I have modded the switching as well: the existing switch does the front/parallel/back thing and the tone pot is a push pull, doing the serial setting.

Interesting - maybe I will suggest that.. do you have two separate volumes or just the one, still? Curious how two volumes will work with the Serial setting turned on.

Which is the real powder yellow?

Both listed as powder yellow on the website.

I know lighting is everything in Capturing colour- but these seem pretty different to me.

I like both but greatly prefer the yellow on the Matt West.

I installed a Wilkinson mm4/jazz pickup on my bridge pickup with a "stealth" 3 way switch for the pickup it goes from parallel/series/bridge single. So I essentially have the 3 (j, p, mm4) tones in my bass. I highly recommend it for those who have a Mercalli 4.

Picked this guy up recently, I love it! Rumblefish XL. I've wanted a 'Fish for years, it doesn't disappoint. Plays great, sounds awesome. Sounds really unique and looks really unique.

Awesome! Does the volume balance nicely with the split brick?

It does with the parallel and single, but the series is like you kicked in a booster. It does not play nice with anyone, its a solo act.

It's not a sunny day here, at all! So no natural light pics. It definitely is the same color as the West. I took a pic next to a yellow legal pad to give a little better idea as to the shade. Florescent lights aren't ideal for pics

My 20th Mercalli changes hue in different light so much that Reverend could have marketed it as a zany colour- shifting finish.

I've got a Mercalli 5 FM, pretty sure I bought it from a member of this site on Reverb. I think its in this thread somewhere.

Love it but I felt it lacked versatility. I dropped a Bartolini preamp in it and now its a monster.
