I have the same issue with the small volume drop on my Rickenbacker. If I back up slightly from full on one of the pickups then the volume goes up a little. I think it's pretty common on passive two pup basses.

It's the mid scoop that happens with both p'ups equal. That's what causes the volume drop. Not uncommon.

Yeah. Picked this up a few months ago.

My Mercalli 5 was delivered yesterday. It appears to be one of the early ones without the forearm contour. This thing is so uncomfortable to play with that sharp edge under my right arm. The neck dive is pretty bad as well. This is hopefully the last time I buy a bass without trying one first. I'm so dissapointed. I'll likely be sending it back first thing monday.![]()
Don't need a club number, here's my blue USA made R5L:

Have matching red and white ones too - all patriotic and stuff.![]()
No, I bought it used from a shop with a 48 hr return policy. I was told it was modified by Mike Lull with a tone-styler and a 3 way pickup selector switch. Considering keeping it and putting flats on it. Keep going back and forth on it. The sharp edge under my forearm is a real turnoff. The neck dive is not great either. Considering hotshot ultralight tuners, but then I'm just throwing more money at the problem. Just not sure what to do here....That is an early one. Black headstock even. It's been modded with a toggle switch, too. Did you buy it as new?
droolus Maximus!
Yup, I scored my red white and blue R5Ls during the "great selloff" - such a good deal I still almost feel guilty.I snatched up a few Revs when they were stupid cheap. Ah...the good ol' days!

Still waiting for an invite to the club! Who do I need to talk to? Currently rocking a Reverend Decision, and waiting to receive a Rumblefish 5L from a fellow TBer. I love these basses!
