That would have been cool! But I get why the switch idea was implemented. It makes more sense for more people. I always thought the push/push on/off buttons that Ernie ball used for the big al was really cool.

Picked up the bass last night, plays NICE.
The neck feels as good as my Lakland skyline, if not better and it feels faster, probably dur to the finish. Got a nice CCR tone on leaning on the bridge pup and a nice fat P full on front pup.
Not a fan of the strings that came stock, not sure what they are? I have a new set of Chromes and Nickel lo-riders, might try them. I was told the Mercalli 5 sounds good dressed in flats?
P.S. If your in the market for a Reverend call Durdel's music in Toledo Ohio, they gave me a great deal.

Chromes sounded great on the USA reverends. I never tried them on the newer ones. I just put TI flats on my Mercalli 4. I like them so far. I have my first gig next week with them, I’ll know for sure then in a band setting
I got one set of the SIT’s on my rumblefish and it sounded great. The same set in a lighter gauge sounded not so great. Trying rotosounds now.
it looks like the SIT nickels came on it. They sound pretty good with the tone rolled down a little.
I'm going to gig the stock strings this Saturday and see how it goes. Hate to waist new string.
Has anyone review the Dr Nickel lo-riders or Chromes on the Mercalli 5? I seen some review that ppl like the La Bella Flats on this bass.

I didnt like the stock SIT's on my T-Gun either. I tried Sunbeams next, but they were to "tame" for the T-Guns somewhat darker nature. Next up was Super Bright Nickels, the opposite of Sunbeams, those are not really working out either...G string is a bit thin, they do well on a Jazz however. Still looking for the perfect strings for this bass, I may try Pure Blues or Roundcore Boomers next.
I’m liking DR Fat Beams on my Justice. Nice across all four strings. Not too zingy but plenty of punch and the E is thunder.

Fat Beams 45-100 on my Mercalli nearly a year now and have settled into a great tone across all four strings.

I just got this used Mercalli FM5 in Coffee or Tobacco burst at least that is how others have described it. The finish is not as dark as it appears from the picture.
But anyway I am Loving it!
But I do have a queston about the older heavier tuners
They now use smaller lighter tuners on the new basses and am wondering where to get some.
These say Jin Ho and they are nice but a little heavy and the hole and post is LARGE
so none of my other tuners laying around will fit.
Great instruments and these seem to feel and be very P-equese but with the B added and I really like the reverse P poles and I am glad to have found this one.

The newer lightweight tuners are Hipshot Ultralites with the 1/2" posts.

When they first released the Wattplower it was in green and this orange came shortly after. There might have been a third color as well? The second run was yellow, blue, and brown I think.

Had a Reverend Mercalli 5,offered to me in a trade,but was wondering what they are going for in a trade?
i just joined the club a few weeks ago...got mine flamed maple used and did not mind paying $725 shipped with basic average gig bag. it was a sale not a trade of course.
I had looked at others that sold also here on TB and they seemed to be in the 700-900 range
love it! for a passive 5er bolt on neck it is tops. Only thing I have done to it is replace the black blend knob with a matching chrome dome knob.
It definitly has it's own voice with the light Korina body that took a little adjusting too. It is very much a P bass sound with the second pickup sort of like a Music Man or G&L.
If I want something a little more than the passive sound I run it through a boss effect unit with a setting called 'mild tube' and like that too.
