Do you have any records of a 4-string 'Fish selling for more than $1,000? After seeing that one with the $1,500 BIN, I was wondering whether the four-figure threshhold had been broken.

As a new Rev owner, can anyone tell me what strings they use for their 5L? I've never had a 35" scale bass before, so can I use regular strings or do they have to be made for the 35" scale? (I'm not too keen on steel r/w strings and have always prefered nickel wound).

I like the DR LowRiders. Their standard 5 string set will work on the 35" scale. If you want a bit more growl, try the Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky's. I would love to have a second 5L set up with TI flatwounds on it.

I'll second the vote for Hybrid Slinkys. But I have to say, I'm finding La Bella Hard Rockin' Steels to be my favorite strings lately. They sound amazing on my Rumblefish. I am usually not a fan of stainless steel strings, but the La Bellas changed my mind. I've been using the M70 set, which is designed for DGCF tuning.

I picked up several packs of bass strings that were marked down, some more than 75% at Sam Ash. I really want to try a set of the Knuckelead Double Wides on my 5L but they only had 4 string sets. They sound awesome on one of my Electra 4 bangers. I found the LB Hard Rockin Steels to sound great but they wear the skin off my fingers!! They have a rather large diameter wrap wire on them Maybe I have sissy fingers

Heh. My fingers get chewed up by whatever strings I'm using 'cause I dig in too hard and play back by the bridge or behind it. But I've found the La Bellas to be pretty mild for stainless steels. I once tried some D'Addario Steels that really did some damage!

I have them on two of my basses and love them as well. I would need a dedicated 5L for them as I like the sound of the rounds a little better.

I like the D'Addario XL's and am currently abusing some Elixirs I got for a steal here on TB. Looking to try some flats sometime soon, probably on my 5L if I can find a set without a tow cable for a B string.

what's the gauge on the B?

I like the B that came on my 5L, think it's a 125. that's the heaviest I'll go.

TI flats are floppy, you wouldn't hate the B string, but you might not like the rest if you like meduim tension.
TI's are loooose.
