The B and G are fine even though they sit a little closer to the edges of the fret board than the four strings originally did. I'm using a 2 & 1/2" Schaller bridge which gives about a 16mm string pitch, this would probably be too tight for some people (slappers) but is still wide enough (for me) to play finger style. The 4003/S5 that RIC tried to sell years ago had a lot tighter spacing and was pretty much a pick style bass. The humbuckers really make the B string thunderous on this bass, much more powerful than the single coils RIC makes.

I've owned tons of Rics in the past. At one time I had:

4001CS
4001v63
4001C64
4003 Fireglo
4003 AFG
'89 4003 (Mapleglo with black trim)
4003 FL
4004C
4004Cii
'73 4001 (Built May '73 before the transition began)

I wound up selling all but the '73. Well the Ric itch bit again and today I found an '84 4001 on Craigslist for $900. It's a bit "reliced", but it has a really good growl.

The Jetglo one is my'73 and the "white" one is my '84.

Don't I wish. I got an inheritance and after I took care of the family, I splurged a little. Well then I branched out a bit into other basses and sold the Rics to finance those mostly ill-advised purchases. The rest of the arsenal is pretty good to go now and so I found the '84 to give me an everyday Ric since I won't gig the '73.

The s8 was awesome! But the funniest story was the Chris Squire. I just happened to be goofing off on Ebay when one of the Ebay stores had it listed for (get this) $2800! And this was 2006, no less. I contacted the shop and they did an off-line sale to me. The bass hadn't been up on the site too long because they later told me they got lots of inquiries on it. I flipped it about a year later for a nice profit.
