None taken. Like Jaymi said real thin necks as well as checkered binding, black dot inlays, and approx 50-60 made for Guitar Centers anniversary or establishment of a certain amount of stores.

Pound for pound it's the most aggressive sounding Rick I own, beside my 4002. I get the same feedback from other Shadow owners.

My Shadow is my "go to bass".

sweet jesus, that '75 4001 makes me want to weep. salvageable if you replaced the pickguard and assembly, but why would you want to do that on a $5000 purchase?

i can understand jetglo + black trim + black hardware being quite rare but.. man. you'd have to have a serious discount due to those mods.

there was no black hardware in 75 so it is all modded....black trim is just plastic...

I got my rick pretty much set up 100% thanx to the input I recieved here
Neck is straight as a razor, string are lower (without touching the bridge), intonation is spot on and the ratelling A-sadle is fixed with 2 tin foil shims on either side (invisible to the naked eye)

The courier delivered my 1973 Jetglo 4001 first thing this morning (only 6 days after making the purchase from another great TBer). Nice low action and amazing sound... and it looks terrific too! Checker binding on a Jetglo is perfect

Nice!! I' notice it still has the checkered binding and non full width markers as well as the second style tail piece. Must be early to mid 73. I have one exactly like it. What treble pup is in it? Slotted pole piece perhaps?? If so, killer sound!!

Date code is MG = July 1973. The treble pup is indeed the slotted pole piece, and it is indeed a killer sound

That combination of features began around late spring, as there are known April basses that have FWI.

I used to own a July '73 4001 (FG), these are great basses.
I only traded it to a friend after getting my March '73 4001 (MG); they sounded and felt identical.

I finally have my Ric 4003 adjusted to my taste. I put a set of Chromes on it and finally have it tweaked where I have low action and no rattles unless I really thump. I'm very pleased.

The new 1013 Fireglow arrived a few days ago and I must admit I should have picked one up long ago. Well as they say better late than never. It is now added to my four favorites.
