The spacing on a 4003 4-2-5 will be about 14mm. But I can get a 4004 to be about 16mm. The stock 4003s5 was about 13mm.

Here's a picture of a 4003s5 modified to have the wider spacing.

Yeah, PW and Monster tend to use metric equivalents, not the standard to-sepc .2500''. The metric equivalents are close but no cigar. You'd need G&H plugs or Neutrik plugs for the real deal, I think.

That is a very pretty bass.

Question: Does the wider spacing cause any problems when playing either of the two outside strings? It seems like you might get in trouble, sliding off the side of the fingerboard, if your playing style is the least bit aggressive.

If I could make one suggestion on that deep blue bass, I'd get some black screws to replace the ones in the bridge, in the [middle] pickup bracket, and in the neck pup.

I'm really having a lot of fun with this bass. Can't wait til I move into a place with more room than my barracks. Kinda limits the selection of amp sizes lol.

Rickenbacker necks are slim at the body. Getting a nice wide spacing is a problem because of the neck and the pickups.

How come there's nowhere on TB to announce a gig you are playing? I looked. I posted a question in some of the more general forums. Nothing.

Well for any interested Rickheads here, me with my 4003 Jetglo and band are playing a little bar in Pickering, Ontario on Saturday at 9 PM. If any of you TB'ers are in the GTA area and need something to do on Saturday night come on out to Grizzly's Pub at the corner of Brock and Bayly for some good rockin' times.

I'm pretty nervous about fooling with truss rods. Would raising the bass side of the bridge a little remedy this?

4003 truss rods are so easy to adjust a cave amn can do it. Raising the bridge is even easier.

It sounds like you're a little backbowed so yeah, just loosen the E-side rod a tiny bit and see what that does for you. On some my Rics a little goes a long way, but, for better or worse, my 1976 is dead straight with almost no tension on the truss rods.

I'm still a coward when it comes to truss rod adjustment. I settled on raising the bridge for now. I put one full turn on each height adjustment and it seems to have pretty much fixed it. I'll leave it there for now and see how it plays tomorrow night before deciding what I'll do next, if anything.

That says my 4003 was built the week of April 18th. I got it when it was only three weeks old. Wow.

It was built in 2001. It's probably easy. For now the bridge adjustment is giving me satisfactory results. I'm playing a gig tomorrow and I don't want to get too much into messing with it until after that. I'm planning to play it the whole show.
