Perhaps not but i feel an offer of $1000 was rather an insult.

I saw that bass on Craig's list Martin and was curious as to how it was going, from a selling perspective.
I have been chewing on selling my RIC, but everytime I start to get serious, I have to ask myself what would I get to replace it?
Not a concern for you as you have a couple more in the stable!
GLWTS by the way!

Got a potential bite this morning actually. Guy says he's interested but wants a MG more. Might consider selling the MG and just replace it later.

This finally showed up, maybe the GAS will subside for a minute

Oh man.....that must be at Guitar Czar. I paid for mine the day they were announced with my old hometown dealer (and friends). They were getting two, and I was given near cost pricing.
I know it was shipped from RIC, I just hope it finds its way to me soon. Only 15 were made for the US market and they were sold within 10 minutes, with each dealer allowed a max. of two units.

I got one of theirs and they still have another

I was surfing eBay on my lunch today (as usual) and ran across this. I've been a Rickenbacker fan since grade school (and will own one eventually, so help me!), but in all that time I've never seen one finished in this color. Is this a factory job, or a masterful refinish? And if it's factory, does anyone know what it was called? This might be the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, and if I'd sold that kidney on eBay like I'd been planning, I'd be bidding on this thing immediately. LOL Thanks for any answers you guys can provide.

That color was called Turquoise. I don't think it was a color of the year, but it wasn't available for more than a few years. It's one of my faves as well. I so prefer the current full width inlays and headstock shape that if I ever have one in that color, I will have to have it done to a newer one.

Thanks so much for the info, Aceonbass. I've seen a lot of Rics that I loved, but I think that this is the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen. Now I know to keep my eyes peeled, and hopefully I can nab one someday. :-)

Ace has it correct, it is Turquoise. It was a stock color available from 1994 to 2003. The color is a fine-grained metallic blue-green. In incandescent light, it looks more green; in daylight, it looks more blue. Here's what it looks like on a 4004:

And one of possibly as few as three 4001V63:

If you want to know more about these two, contact me.

Which one of y'all currently owns my old Rickenbacker?

I keep thinking it'll show up in pix here and I haven't seen it. I'm convinced it's here.
Here it is when it was new:
Link Removed

1980, 4001 model. Translucent red.
I replaced the original nut with a graphite one after it took a tumble in 1984. There was a small dark spot on the fretboard around the 10th or 11th fret that was slightly off-center - almost looking like an additional fret dot.
It was originally purchased in Chattanooga TN, but I moved to Atlanta. I traded it away to Atlanta Discount Music in 1991 or 1992.

I'm curious if the majority of Rick players play with a pick? My Rick sounds so much better with a pick, more so then any other bass and I am primarily a finger player. This kinda disappoints me. I may do a poll.

Finger style thumping or none for me, thanks. :)

Am I reading this white 4003 as the COY? Is it unusual for such a low number of COYs to be produced? If not, I need to redefine my idea of what COY is. I had thought it was a limited color run and not so much both a limited color run and limited product run. 15 is seriously lame, IMO.

I can't relate to that at all. Probably just me, though.

I have not seen anyone call it a COY. COYs are dead for now. Rickenbacker has been doing more limited runs throughout the year and of a more sporadic nature like when they did those special yellow and green basses, and then there were special ones for overseas now and then... I can't keep track, but basically lots of odds and ends and no more COYs. I kind of prefer odds and ends because COY is kind of a boring concept.

They put this up on their facebook page a few weeks ago but haven't posted anything else yet.

I like a pick but I'm not very good with it. But with fingers I actually get a brighter, grindier sound than a pick by digging in with my nails a little, Geddy-style. Nice thing about that is that I can "turn it on" or off by changing how I pluck.
