Yikes! You think I look like Shatner? I'll have to admit that Shatner looks pretty damn good for turning 81 next week (!!!). Actually, I look more like Elton John. If you put a wig like his on me, brown contact lenses, and bushy eyebrows, I could be his doppleganger. But Shatner? I dunno, man.

I believe it has come time for me to take a Rick breather so the number handling etc will need to be done by someone here within these pages...send me a PM so I can hand over the baton and the rolling continues...

I also play my Rick unplugged, actually 80% of my playing home are unplugged. It sound like a Rick then as well, for sure not the same as my Geddy (both with Roto's 66 Nickel) or my CV60 p bass which has Marshall Nickel strings on it. Anyway, much of the sound of each of these basses is there unplugged.

He is taking my place as the lead in this awesome group of people! I am taking a much needed Rick breather and I will lurk from time to time...

I just picked up a late model 4003 and am trying to figure it out. the pickup cover seems like its plastic, does it do anything to the sound or is it just cosmetic/ergonomic? What do you all prefer on or off?

Also as a total 4003 noob, I'm curious how you guys think about pickup settings? I.e. with a j bass you typically would always use the blended setting and back off the neck pickup to get that growl when desired. Are there equivalents on the 4003?

And where do you put your thumb for fingerstyle?

Interesting bass for sure.
