Yes, later model 4003. If the truss-rod cover says "4001" then it either was put on by mistake at the factory, or is a replacement by a previous owner. Enjoy!

What kind of reputation do 2011' Rics have here compared to other build-years?

I played a 2011 Ric recently and was very disappointed (I play a Rickenfaker for around 2-3 years now and love it). The neck felt way too thick, almost like a P.

Who did the work?

It is a new place in Barcelona, Spain:"Taller Farosenlaniebla". Artist´s name is Ricardo Batista. He owns Rickenbacker´s Official Customer Suport licence. You can look for more nice works from it searching "Farosenlaniebla taller" in facebook. And you will know why I calling him "artist"

I'm happy with mine. Neck's not thick at all. I just measured it at ~7/8".

The one at the museum was a modified version, I saw the original version a few times back in the day at Genesis shows in the early to mid '70s.

under the Search link to the left on the main page for Arnquist mod. You will find a thread titled "Bass Bridges and Adjustment Hassles". I did this mod on a former '73 4001 and it works great. Instead of a milling machine, I just used a drill press with a 9/16" drill bit to cut down the gaps in the tailpiece, which was mounted on some scrap wood used to make a jig that kept the tailpiece horizontal.

I don't think so. My guitar tech commented on adjusting the intonation when I bought my first Ric (used). "worst bridge design ever. I had to take the entire bridge off every time i had to adjust it. "
