Thanks! It was coincidence, actually. I had just started having interest in getting one of those, and then one pops up in the classifieds! I figured some fate was involved, and if I passed on it I wouldn't find another for 10 years =P

'76 4001 abused w/ fender after market hardware. Sanded bare and poorly finished. Still rocked, so I bought it. Hardware returned to some sense of normality. More rockin'. May I join?

She sure was abused, but if it sounds like my two 70s 4001 basses (a late 75 and a 76), then you have a real winner. Congrats.

Sounds great. Rumbling this thing for a good 13 years and have not been let down. Slowly replaced the hardware. Finally landed on some strings I really like. Golden.

After doing some A/B comparisons between my blue '85 and this '02 turquoise I decided the '85 is a better fit for me and I'm going to sell the green. If anyone is interested its up in the classifieds!

The one to the left is the same as mine, it is a 4003?
The second one from the left, is it not basically the same as the 4001CS?
That 8 string Ric must be rare!

That's a lot of Rics for a someone whose name is Fender Love . The 2 on the right look like 80s? The one on the far left looks nice. I like lighter fireglos or dark fireglos, but don't like the really bright red ones.
