Interestingly, the discontinued 95510 light gauge set that I'm enjoying on my fretless keeps the same gauge A and D strings, only reducing the E to .095 and G to .040.

middlemen trying to make a profit by buying a bass from a local shop and exporting it. it's a common sight on ebay, reverb, digimart, etc.

Given the 4005XC has a 30 inch scale and 24 frets, and given the bridge placement, that's unlikely.
Well, the likely explanation is that it is a repurposed guitar neck that the factory s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-s o-u-t to accommodate the 30.5" scale length.

I don't have any first hand experience but I've heard that this is totally legit in Japan. Multiple "brokers " will list the original sellers item at a higher price, unknown to the seller. If you buy from the broker he will then buy it from the original seller and send it to you. Sounds fishy but I think that's just a normal practice in Japan.
The direct translation - I suppose you call it a transliteration - of 'entrepreneur' is, after all, 'between-taker.' Although a French person would think of the word more as meaning 'middle-taker.' I wonder what the Japanese word is. 'Broker' cause that's what they make the buyer?
