the silence game

That passive-aggressive crap doesn't fly with me.

Had a few exes like that and I called them out on it. They never changed and I ended up breaking up with them.

Honestly, it's not only stupid but doesn't prove anything other than the person giving the silent treatment is petty and manipulative, not to mention immature. What is she? 10 years old?

This pretty much...

But we are talking about women.

Wether I'm right or wrong I'm always the first to try to fix the issue

I'm kindof lucky in that regard, been with my girlfriend for almost 21 months now, and we don't give each other the silent treatment. When we're angry at each other, we let the other person know, and we talk it through. I'm working on my yelling problem, I can be very pigheaded, but I seldom get that way. I wish I could help you with your silent treatment predicament, I've had some pretty crazy girlfriends, but none of them gave me the silent treatment.

Um..... coming from someone with MULTIPLE EXES I have a hard time thinking you are giving "good" advice.

The good advice I was given long ago when dealing with arguments is that "You can either be RIGHT or you can be HAPPY, but rarely both." Few arguments are worth driving home a point. Women are complicated (which is part of what makes them fascinating). They play games and so what if they do.

To the OP, I get that you are just venting a bit with us. Give in and let it go. It doesn't hurt you in the long run especially of the argument was over something dumb (as most are). Your pride won't be hurt 15 minutes after things are better. Life is too short.....

So who're you with, your first crush? Come now. This is ridiculously unreasonable.

I wont let my S.O. play the silent treatment routine. If she's upset over something, then we're going to talk about it. If she won't speak to me because she feels she hasn't 'won', well then I don't really need to be with someone so immature now, do I? We're supposed to be adults. We should be able to talk about the things that concern us with open minds, and not throw little fits when we don't get our way. I don't see "That's how women are, they're supposed to play games" as a valid excuse. Either you're able to resolve issues maturely, or you aren't. Fortunately, my current GF is wonderful about things like this.

Finding someone who's mature and on the same intellectual and emotional level did wonders for me.

Next to no arguements and none of the stupid games.

The silent treatment is just delaying the inevitable. Even if you outlast her you'll probably wish you hadn't.

All the silent treatment does is give both of you time to prepare and refine your cases - use the time wisely and come out swinging with your story straight and your resolve implacable.

Or you could cower like a whipped dog, which always works for me :)

"Winning" a "game" in a "relationship."

In 2012.

According to my girlfriend most of the women she knows are taught that you have to manipulate and control your man if you're going to get what you want out of a relationship. Makes sense given most of my past relationships. Luckily she's not really like that.

All a woman needs to do to get something out of me is ask nicely. And put out.

Suggestions:

Mumble like you are saying something under your breath. That should get a nasty "What did you just say"

Give here whatever she asks for during the silent treatment.

Pick up the phone when there's no one on it, act like you are having a conversation, and in the middle of it say "I don't know, she's not talking to me right now", or "I think she went out, I don't hear her". "I'd ask her but she's apparently lost the power of speech at this point in time."

Leave the toilet seat up. That should get her talking.
